How do I use these posted texts? Where do I copy and paste to?

I see these all over the forum, but I have no idea how to use them? I just know that I can copy and paste them. If used with clover where do I paste them? If used in terminal do I just copy and paste on the terminal page? Helping me understand this would be greatly appreciated! Thank you...
