How do I find what motherboard I have?

Do I have to physically open up my laptop to find the serial number? Or can I find it from the make and model. Dell Inspiron 6000. I've installed using easy beast but would like to install with the DSDT.

You should just patch your own DSDT. What is it that you're trying to fix with DSDT?

I thought it might make my OS a bit more reliable. It freezes on startup sometimes and the fan doesn't always switch on when the laptop gets hot.

What has been your process so far for installing?

And you should be more aware of what hardware you have. Use DPCIManager to get PCI List.
