Hi everyone, just tried following the tutorial to install High Sierra on my computer, configured BIOS accordingly but, no luck. Got stuck with a Prohibited/Stop sign following the Apple logo when trying to get to Install...
any thoughts?

my computer is:
MB: MSI X99A RAIDER
RAM: 32 DDR4
Processor: Intel Core i7-6800K @ 3.40ghz
Video: NVIDIA GTX 1060 3gb

dying to have a macOS on it :/
thankful for any ideas.

Done, BreBo, thanks for the heads up.
I've tried the following tutorials for the High Sierra install:
no success, stalled at the STOP / Prohibited sign

then I tried:
because it was a x99 mb..

no success, then I tried:
no good too...

then this:
nothing - but, in Debug, it did patched all Kexts but stalled on a 5 Secs pause...

No good on all..
So here's pics from my BIOS.. any light on it I'd be deeply thankful.

Got stuck with a Prohibited/Stop sign following the Apple logo when trying to get to Install...
any thoughts?
  • It would have been better to upload the screen image of a Verbose boot screen to know exactly what preceded the "Prohibit" sign on Boot screen.
  • Good you uploaded BIOS screen shots. [I have edited and uploaded relevant images]
  • The transcribed boot error can occur if the Installer USB is failing to transfer files from USB port failure.
  • Your BIOS -> USB Options are OK.
  • Your BIOS options include VT-d enabled [See image] This should be disabled. If you have chosen dart=0 in config.plist this wrong BIOS choice on "VT-d Enabled" may be overridden.
  • By ruling out a BIOS issue, I think the most likely cause for your "Prohibit" sign error is a config.plist >Devices>USB section showing No [√]FixOwnership.
  • The other cause is inserting the USB in a Port that loses Power , usually on the Front Bezel.
  • I suggest checking config.plist>Devices>USB and place [√]FixOwnership and try booting .
  • If still the same issue try changing High Sierra installer USB to a different port at the back until you find the right port.

Tried one more thing that made the process move on (maybe this is not advisable but just trying to see what sticks):

- replaced Kexts/10.12 and drivers54UEFI from nickwoodhams.com ( https://www.dropbox.com/s/cv3fdmx05ak54c1/x99-base.tar?dl=0 ) onto my Unibeast High Sierra..

and here's the result (see attached)

again it stalls on a 5 seconds pause.

any clues? ;/

Just noticed the 10.12 folder and placed those Kexts to 10.13 (High Sierra) - no good too.

Maybe my only option is to switch the MB.

(the images above were supposed to be vertical but it uploaded as horizontal dont know why)

  • Please note Asus-Freak suggested correctly to troubleshoot the previously posted Verbose boot error by replacing OsxAptioFix2Drv-64.efi with OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi

  • Your posted screenshot of drivers64UEFI folder contents once again shows the file was not replaced.[See edited image
  • The link posted shows that the Drivers64UEFI folder has replaced OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi
    • That might work
  • But you have also included a new file EmuVariableUefi-64.efi.
    • Remove the EmuVariableUefi-64.efi. and see if your boot will go forward.
  • To be honest, I don't think your MoBo is causing this problem because of any defects in it.
