But it does see it when attached through a USB ssd convertor, so attached to the computer through USB.

There must be a kext missing.

MB is a ASRock p67 pro3 se. SSD is a Corsair Force 120 GB.

using Unibeast standard way.

Bios set as in installer guide.

What Kext do i need for this?

i have been able to get everything working on the SSD USB connection. i am afraid if i plug it back into the SATA cable directly to the MB that it will not work.

ok, that was easy. after multibeast set up and the right sata settings kext it all works when connected to the MB.

ok not, i get a non access sign. rond with a bar from top left to bottom right. white on black screen. what's this??

Fixed, AHCI was on, but SATA aggressive link power management was enabled, and obviously should have been disabled. works....

sorry for all this self fixing, maybe this helps others...

So if high sierra installer does not see you SSD, just try via USB convertor. i am using a logilink QP00168

@flatfeet i am having similar issues. I have a question - what did you mean by “the right SATA settings kext”. Did you initially have it connected to a non-intel SATA port?

@Obvious Answer Man Where is it? I searched all day and have found nothing. Someone else in another thread suggested it had been discussed and a solution found but he didn’t have a link either.

If you have a link or even what to search that would be good. I have tried unibeast, installer, guid, sata but have found nothing indicating why guid drives don’t show up in the install options when you use legacy install

Same issue as my H81MHV3, try ICH10 patches, should work.

This is a known bug in High Sierra installer Disk Utility.

Format the disk with another OS before hand or use the Terminal command "diskutil"
