Hello all ye forum users of tonymacx86.com!
Right now I am doing research about my a setup of harddrives for my video editing suite.
Specifications of the computer:
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Pro4-M
Processor: Intel Core i7 3770K @ 4.5 Ghz
Memory: 32GB Corsair Vegeance 1600 Mhz
Graphics: EVGA GeForce GTX 670 FTW 2GB
I am aiming to put in the following harddrives and setup
2 x 256 GB Samsung 840 Pro @ RAID0 (Primary disk: Boot and mainly for all files that should be edited)
2 x 4 TB Seagate Barracuda @ RAID0 (Secondary disk: Storage but sometimes used for direct editing, therefore the goal of having those raided to)
You don't have to explain how to connect everything, how to do the setup etc.
That's what Google search is for but I have some questions:
- Hardware RAID or software RAID? Pros and cons?
- Any suggestions for RAID controller cards?
- What shall I have in back of my mind when I do this?
