Help needed for Prime Z690M-plus D4

Hi,
My Apple Macpro 2010 is randomly destroying Ram-boards, so It needs replacing urgently.
Battling to get it working before 2010 kicks bucket.

First build, had to take the HW that was available, rather than what I wanted.

Mont 12.3 (the one apple nobbled with a new update package)
Prime Z690M-PLUS D4
Intel I9 12900k
RX6600 8G SAPPHIRE PULSE

I've been at it a while and just cannot get a firm grip of why it is stopping
is it my BIOS settings
is my EFI bad.
or is it the new 12.3 , im trying to install.

computer build is fine, it booted & installed a linux system, and did not crash for the half day i ran it.


no matter what i do in the EFI I get hte same stop point & error

Your IGPU and the motherboard chipset are not supported in macOS. So you can't use the Intel Graphics chip.

If not have a read of these two posts.

Your config.plist contains a Framebuffer entry for a Coffee/Comet Lake IGPU that is set to run in Headless mode. This needs to be disabled or removed from your config.plist.

I would remove all the entries in the DeviceProperties > Add section of the config.plist, as the three other entries are already disabled, as shown in the screenshot below.

DeviceProperties > Add section, with Headless framebuffer.

See if disabling the IGPU helps.

And do a bit of research in to the system by reading the posts linked above.

Thanks i got it almost all solved, it was partially due to the approx 32 USB ports and Apple's toplevel assery of screwing it down to 15.
could not even get to step 5, the guide might be better updated to make it more noticeable on this point

Step 1.5 , ensure that you find a USB port that will always be enabled (watch out for Apple's 15 port limit)

only issue is a hard crash whenever the CPU H.T is turned on.

Made some good progress.... ram was at 2100, discovered the shop gave me 3600 ram..

so... ram speed does tend to make a little difference...
not even started playing with the overclocking...

but i can say the Antec NX200M case is garbage....
it's got more holes than a swiss cheese, which allows air to bleed round overheating components.
and then they shove the disk drives in the bottom of the case... in a SOLID metal shroud and 90 degree against the airflow... so the air comes into the sid of the drive mounting which is covered by metal.. instead of along the length of the disk drive..
absolute garbage... designed for drive failure.

The intel 520... is hot enough to cook steaks at the bottom of the case....
and to top it off, the PSU takes the air supply from the most dusty location in any setup... UNDER the main case..

I swear these guys must use the same clean room to design products as apple... a room filled with guys in white coveralls and white painted walls.

Did you get any problem with RX6600?

I have the same hardware configuration and the RX6600 some times did not show anything when the system get into graphics load step at boot.

I got agdpmod=pikera on args it not every time just seems little bit random.

sometimes rarely on startup & shutdown I get a problem where the card panics.
or after some sleep events.


but it is really rare and i cannot seem to duplicate it.
it seems to be when a certain core picks up that thread.
