Thirded. I got this after installing the nvidia drivers. Reboot didn’t help. The installer threw up an apparently non fatal error, but completed. I’d try a reinstall of the drivers, but first I need to get to the desktop.

Have either of you had luck booting with nv_disable=1? Tried that this morning before I left for work, but at last count was stuck with both that screen and the Apple logo/progress bar superimposed, but much disk activity.

Could you attach your EFI folder zipped with themes removed?

Also to uninstall the drivers from recovery, assuming your boot drive is still called "Macintosh HD"

Code:
# SV="/Volumes/Macintosh HD"
# rm -R "$SV"/Library/Extensions/NVDA*
# rm -R "$SV"/Library/Extensions/GeForce*
# rm -R "$SV"/System/Library/Extensions/GeForce*Web*
# touch "$SV"/Library/Extensions
# touch "$SV"/System/Library/Extensions
# kextcache -u "$SV"
