Hey all,

As you can see its 1:10 in the morning and I a have been at this all day :) I have built and installed the system, all is working well but I have a few issues. First up is a slightly slow boot up. In -V mode it fly's through right up until 8 lines from the end (macx_swapon SUCCESS) this appears and then a 30secs pause before the login screen appears. i am presuming everything after the (macx_swapon SUCCESS) is the issue but I am new to this so I could be wrong.

Any help appreciated.

I have to use PCIRootUID=0 to get into OS, I have aded this to chameleon.plist so I no longer need to use the USB Boot Loader etc. This is the only change I have made.

2. MultiBeast - UserDSDT or DSDT Free Installation, ALC 892 Without DSDT, Trim Enabler, Lnx2Mac's Network, FakeSMC, FakeSMC Plugins
3. Edit org.chameleon.boot.plist to PCIRootUID=0
4. Graphics Enabler=Yes
5. Disk Utility Repair permissions
6. Kext Wizard Repair Permissions
7. Reboot
8. S/L/E Extensions appear before Darwin Kernel message
Item 8. means there is a kernel cache problem for S/L/E that Disk Utility and the others cannot solve. Suggest a clean install with only DSDT Free Installation. Reboot with -v and see if kernel cache is OK (no extensions list). If OK with the vanilla system, run MultiBeast to install one of the above selections at a time and find the one breaks that kernel cache.

UPDATE:

I decided to use a video camera to record the Verbose output as it passed so quickly and it is clearly critical information. It appears what I had thought was S/L/E was actually S/L/CoreServices. (Please see attached file)

Based on your recommendation I then did a fresh install and installed items one at a time;

1. USB UniBeast Install using argument PCIRootUID=0
2. Boot from HDD using argument PCIRootUID=0
3. Run MultiBeast and select UserDSDT or DSDT-Free Installation & FakeSMC
4. Run Disk Permission Repair & Reboot

All is ok so far.

5. Boot from HDD using argument PCIRootUID=0
6. Edit org.chameloen.Boot.plist to read PCIRootUID=0
7. Run MultiBeast and select Disk-->Trim Enabler
8. Run Disk Permission Repair & Reboot

All is ok so far.

9. Boot from HDD.
10. Install 892 without DSDT
11. Run Disk Permission Repair & Reboot

Slow boot time, 30ish second pause after "macx_swapon SUCCESS. Login screen appears and mouse/keyboard freeze for 2mins before all working correctly.

I have attached the following for you to see;

1. Before Audio Install dmesg Output text file
2. Before Audio Install Verbose Output picture to see messages prior to "Loading Darwin Kernel 10.8"

3. After Audio Install dmesg Output text file
4. After Audio Install Verbose Output picture to see messages prior to "Loading Darwin Kernel 10.8"

5. IOReg in current state i.e. slow booting and mouse/keyboard issue

6. My org.chameleon.Boot.plist file.

Kind Regards.

Initial questions:
1. What kind of keyboard and mouse?
2. What kexts are in Extra/Extensions?
3. Are you using MultiBeast for Step 10 above?
4. Why are you running Disk Utility after kext install and what does it find?
5. How do you shut down the system (I am not familiar with Shutdown Cause: 5)?
6. If Before Audio is a clean installation, why is HDAEnabler1.kext loading?

1. What kind of keyboard and mouse?
ADVENT USB Wired Keyboard(1.1) & Mouse(2.0)
2. What kexts are in Extra/Extensions?
I have no /Extensions folder in my Extra Folder. i.e. Root/Extra/Extensions. The Extra Folder only contains org.chameleon.Boot.plist, smbios.plist & Themes Folder. Are you referring to another location?
3. Are you using MultiBeast for Step 10 above?
Yes I am.
4. Why are you running Disk Utility after kext install and what does it find?
Simply to ensure all permissions are correct, this was something you had mentioned previously. In its initial run (4) it will find around 10 (I have never counted specifically, they are things like Are: xyyx -x -y, should be xyxy -xx or something of that sort. Would details be beneficial?)
5. How do you shut down the system (I am not familiar with Shutdown Cause: 5)?
Apple Logo top left/Shut Down. It will occasionally list a few things here in very small print before shutting down.
6. If Before Audio is a clean installation, why is HDAEnabler1.kext loading?
I have somehow overwritten as opposed to save as, the time stamps are the same. I will repeat the process again with the correct file attached and details on permissions repaired.

Kind Regards.

2. What kexts are in Extra/Extensions?
I have no /Extensions folder in my Extra Folder. i.e. Root/Extra/Extensions. The Extra Folder only contains org.chameleon.Boot.plist, smbios.plist & Themes Folder. Are you referring to another location?
The After Audio Install Verbose Output.png shows your system is on hd(1,2) and shows loading the Extra/Extensions folder on hd(0,1). If possible, unplug hd0.

Will look into this now.

I have a Sandisk SSD, Sony DVD Drive and the Unibeast USB stick Installed only, how odd. I will remove the DVD & USB UniBeast stick.

Attached is an updated Folder with Pre & Post dmesg outputs (done correctly this time) as well as screenshots of disk utilities findings SC1 is after initial MultiBeast Install (UserDSDT, Trim, FakeSMC) and SC2 is after audio install.

I have removed the DVD Drive, so now I only have the SSD and USB UniBeast Drive to allow me to input -v. It still list the same as 'After Audio Install Verbose Output' HD 1,2 initially then loading the Extensions from 0,1.

I have only been rewriting the partition each time I reinstall, this would delete the though data right?

I will try a fresh install with a HDD erase first when I am back later.

Kind Regards

Dan.
