I am experiencing KPs (instant computer restart after installing Catalina and choosing to boot from Macintosh HD drive) however, my Mojave backups boot normally. Dont know what changed, however, I am suspecting the new data volume format in Catalina maybe.

Here is my KP report:

Me too...
The restart loops

Now I can’t even do anything with my Backup boot because I lost keyboard/mouse :/ I must have done something in the config.plist wrong. I’m desperate because I did not find any solution here or any other site. Just trying out everything. Wanted to try to clear kext cache, touch...but cannot do that because of nonexistent input (no mouse/keyboard). Help me out here guys please

Ok, managed to get the mouse and keyboard working by using another volume to boot Clover. I will fix this. However, tried to boot Catalina recovery, I launched terminal and was trying to clear kextcache but to no avail. Read only volume etc.

Now, I’m back to my Mojave backup system and thinking what to do next, any suggestions? Btw. I unplugged all my external usb drives:

This night be the culprit but for the love of god, can’t seem to find a solution for that. I’m in my Mojave backup system and willing to try out anything, please advise, thanks!!!!

I will now try to install Catalina on my main Macintosh HD while booted in my Mojave backup drive. Will keep you posted guys. Really desperate here.

When I did an update of Catalina my system also came into a bootloop.
The thing that worked for me was instal Mojave and than update to the newest Catalina.
That did it for me I have now a working Catalina.
Well I updated from Mojave and this happened. You mean I should “downgrade” to Mojave and then try to install Catalina again?

I have the same issue where it is stuck in a bootloop. Backup will not load either as it is doing a bootloop as well.

Im am now restoring my old Mojave installation. Im thinking of trying to do a clean install and after it works, I will try to migrate from my mojave backup.

As to your backup not working...hmm. My mojave isntaller and backup volumes work with the same clover EFI that is not working on Catalina.
