I'm at wit's end.

Computer specs that matter:

Mobo: Gigabyte H61M-DS2V
Video: NVidia GeForce 450 GTS
CPU: Core i3-2100 (Sandybridge)
Storage: OCZ Vertex 120GB SSD, (there is also a plain HDD where Windows 7 lives)

The Problem:

-Can't boot successfully after installing Multibeast.

What works:

I can install Snow Leopard 10.6.6 DVD via iBoot, but only if I use "PCIRootUID=1 -x" and boot into safemode. After OS X install, everything is low-res and sound does not work, but surprisingly (luckily) the ethernet works and I can connect to the internet. This is the best I can get.

What I've tried:

-The DSDT for GA-H61M-DS2, F3 Bios
-Updating with only the 10.6.6 Combo Update
-Updating with only 10.6.7 Combo Update
In both of these attempts, I tried "Apple 64-Bit mode" and in a separate attempt "Apple 64-bit mode GraphicsEnabler=NO"
-Updating with 10.6.8 Combo Update, but running Update Helper beforehand.
-I've tried booting with the PCIRootUID=1 -x command line.

In all instances, the gray Apple boot screen simply hangs unresponsively. If I try to boot from iBoot and run the SSD volume, I get a kernel panic. This forces me to start over from square one.

Please help?

Update: Some progress made.

I was able to get a successful update and boot from disk. My Snow Leopard is now at version 10.6.8, with functional internet and App Store. Plugging in a USB flash drive doesn't cause Gray Screen of Death. Sound isn't working, and the VGA is low res. Here's what I did.

1) Re-installed OSX 10.6.6 Retail DVD from iBoot disc. (just as before, using PCIRootUID=1 -x)
2) As soon as I reach the desktop, download Multibeast 3.10, Update Helper, and ComboUpdate 10.6.8
3) I *did not* run the Combo Update or Multibeast.
4) Ran Update Helper. Restart computer.
5) Boot from iBoot disc. PCIRootUID=1 -x
6) Back at desktop. Open Multibeast and selected these flags:
-EasyBeast
-System Cache/Repair
-Audio kexts for Realtek ACL88x
-Universal Ethernet for Realtek
-PCIRoot UID=1

Did not hit "Install/Continue" but instead launched the ComboUpdater.
7) Run the ComboUpdater until it finished. Once finished, hit "Continue" in Multibeast so it would do it's thing immediately after. Then hit "Restart" from the ComboUpdater Installer to restart the computer.
8) Was able to boot directly from disc!

Strange problem: Visiting tonymacx86.com from Safari on this hackintosh causes Safari to crash, which makes downloading/troubleshooting a little tricky since I have to do it from my Chromebook but oh well. I guess my next step is to push on to Lion where (hopefully) things are more stable--like my video card and sound, for example.

your almost their - but I think some install steps are out of order -
Here is a short install process that amends the Tomymacx86 installer process done by jester969
-------------------------------------------------------------------
How to due a sandybridge cpu w compatable hardware OSX hack 10.6.8 build. jester969

Typical installation steps are:
1) iBoot + Disk Utility + install Snow Leopard DVD (perform install via DVD) reboot
2) iBoot + Installed OSX HDD (boot with iBoot and loading OS via newly installed HDD) - get welcome screen
3) Run Update Helper and Reboot?
4) iBoot + Installed OSX HDD, run combo update 10.6.8 , DO NOT reboot
5) Run Multibeast and select option which are required to your board.
6) Reboot w/out iBoot

Audio/Ethernet/DSDT

DSDT and BIOS firmware must match to the corresponding number.
------------------------------------------------------------
At step 6 you may want to use the switches -v -f

Use for all Intel sandy or ivy bridge motherboards as startup.
PCIRootUID=0
