Google finds many examples too but it is probably quicker to just reinstall than it is to troubleshoot.

Hi, I’m having this same issue with Sierra.

I tried to recover from time machine from Disk Utility but the HD is not listed in the destination drives. When I tried to repair the disk, it says that the disk can’t be repaired. I tried to erase the disk (I have everything in my time machine) but I got an error saying that it can’t be erased either. I don’t have a booteable USB, what options do I have?

Many thanks!
