Hi everyone!

First time builder here. Currently looking to put together my first build where I will be running Mac OS, Windows and Linux. My current build list is as follows:

- Intel i7 8700
- ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero
- EVGA GeForce GTX 1060, 6GB GDDR5
- Ballistix Sport LT 32 GB Kit (DDR4 2400 MT/s)
- Corsair Hydro Series High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler H60
- Corsair RMx Series, RM650x, 650 Watt power supply
- Fractal Design Define R5 Gaming Case
- Going to be using a few SSDs that I already have, and looking to get a few Crucial BX300 120 GB SSDs to run the operating systems

Most of these items are from the build guides for the Mac Pros. The question I have is how important is it to follow these guides for the memory? I see that all of them listed are DDR4 2400 MT/s. Would it be possible for me to use anything with a higher speed (like 3000 or 3200 MT/s)? Not sure if this recommendation is more for cutting costs, or if it is a specification for building a Hackintosh.

Any insights you guys could give me would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks everyone!
Anthony

Google - Asus Maximus X Hero QVL - Click on the first link in the results. Download the memory_QVL, choose your ram.

Thanks for the QVL tip!
Im also still curious about whether the support of higher clockspeeds is due to only the chosen motherboard, or if MacOS itself has restrictions of what it can handle properly.
I have read about successful builds that used 3000 MHz RAM and above though.
