Hector (H97N-WIFI / i5-4690 / 16GB RAM) with New Gigabyte 750 TI 2GB Graphics Card

Status
Not open for further replies.
Unfortunately, the only nVidia 600 series card I use is the GTX 650 Ti, and it has worked fine in Yosemite w/o using the nVidia web drivers. Unfortunately, I won't be able to test 10.10.3 on the system with the 650 Ti until next week. But, a GTX 670 should work with the Apple native drivers as it was supported in Mountain Lion and Mavericks. So, I recommend you start a thread here in the Graphics forum section describing your problem.

Alrighty! It's working, I guess I just didn't wait long enough. There is a almost 30 second of nothingness before the desktop comes up. -v doesn't shows anything. Where can I start to troubleshoot this?

Would posting the bdmesg help?

Thanks Stork,

My machine configuration as follow:
- Gigabyte Z77 DS3H
- Intel Core i5 HD4000
- Yosemite 10.10.3

I used to have AirPlay working flawlessly. Today, I use graphics card Gigabyte GTX 750TI GV-N75TOC-2GI. I followed your instruction. I can manage to output to two monitors. However I cannot out video signal to Airplay any more.

I am a teacher. I really need to display my slides to students. Do you need any information from my configuration to figure out what happenend.

Thanks a lot,

I don't have a current Apple TV to test AirPlay. However, I found this document > https://support.apple.com/kb/PH14375?locale=en_US

Just make sure your hack and Apple TV is on the same network.

You will need to follow this guide to enable AirPlay Mirroring when also using a discrete GPU: http://www.tonymacx86.com/graphics/...ary-display-airplay-mirroring.html#post721605

+1, slim.jim!

Thanks for finding toleda's thread. I'm gonna bookmark this for future reference.

Yea, I keep bookmarks of solutions for commonly asked questions and for any future build references.

Hi Stork,
I am using a build very similar to yours, except with a GTX970 instead of a 750. Since the last Nvidia driver update I am experiencing occasional freezes and was wondering if you bumped into the same issue. I had freezes before, but changing to 15.1 definition fixed it for me. At the moment neither 14.2 nor 15.1 seems to be working smoothly ...

...I had freezes before, but changing to 15.1 definition fixed it for me. At the moment neither 14.2 nor 15.1 seems to be working smoothly...
15,1 isn't recommended - too many issues with the SysDef. With a graphics card, toleda recommends iMac14,2. I've used that SysDef and MacPro3,1, both with good results. Before I installed the GTX 750 Ti, I was using on-board HD4600 with a SysDef of 14,1.

Freezes are caused by either incompatible memory and/or a PSU not rated Haswell "ready" or "certified." Sometimes, changing the C/P state "flags in the /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist file to No will stop the freezes. However, most of the freezes are attributed to incompatible memory. So, check the H97N's Memory Support List.

Thanks Stork,
PSU and RAM are okay, I have been running stable on Yosemite before and the system still is stable in Win7.
I really think it might be caused by the latest Nvidia drivers (f03). For the time being have reverted to f02 and so far seems to be working well again. If I still get freezes I'll try disabling C/P states as you recommended.

Cheers!
