Can you try the HDMI ports using one of the working frame buffers
After getting a miniHDMI adapter I tried what you suggested. I left one monitor connected to the "working" DVI port, and plugged another using HDMI cable with the adapter.

Both displays booted to desktop using any of the working frame buffer personalities and with proper detection, but....
The picture quality is AWFUL on an HDMI connected monitor (resolution set to 1080p). It's blurry and the text is very hard to read. And not only in OSX, but in Chimera/Chameleon boot menu too.

I tried several HDMI cables with the same result. I also tried connecting my HTPC to that monitor using HDMI and the picture was fine.

Don't know if miniHDMI adapter can be the cause of this. I will install Windows this evening to check if it happens there too.
EDIT: Installed windows, same thing there. So its either an adapter or a faulty miniHDMI connector on the card.

It seems HD6570 could be in the same boat as HD6670 - a pain in the a$$ to setup.

I found a guide on the "other site" that explains how to modify a frame buffer personality so it uses the connectors that the card actually has.
Here it is: Getting XFX HD6850 connectors to work

Im quite comfortable with extracting ROMs, hex editing, and testing till I drop dead, so I think I'll go down that road and try making both DVIs work.
I know the guide was written for HD6850, but after reading the first post I deducted the info there is universal (at least for HD6xxx cards).
Maybe that way you can fix your DVI port as well - if you need it.

Anyways, thank you very much for your patience with me and my problem.

EDIT
a message to whomever edited my post to break the "other site" link: that's LAME, we're trying to fix things here, no time for petty disputes.

hello netgear65,

no progress here, at the moment i simply don't have the time to test. currently i'm editing a tv show that airs weekly, and i can't risk breaking my box.

is your XFX 6570 the one with two DVI ports and a miniHDMI? if yes, than my solution (once i find it) will probably work for you as well. but if it has any other combination of ports (some have a VGA port, some have a DP) it won't work.

next month i'll have one week break from the tv show - i'll probably find the time to test then.

cheers, zarac

EDIT: if you feel adventurous and have the time, try following the link in my previous post (if no one broke it AGAIN). i'm quite sure it is the right way of fixing this kind of problems.

I have Saphire ATI Radeon HD 6570 card and with some issues.

I am not using any frame buffer personalities. My Chimera loads super slow takes 35 seconds to load, :banghead: :banghead: to the point where I select OS.

I think I am using Chimera bdmesg shows

macpcs-Mac-Pro:~ lionpc$ bdmesg
Chimera 1.9.1 (svn-r1394) [2012-03-30 11:05:37]
msr(302): platform_info 70012200

this is from my bdmesg

It says it detected 6570 with ? marks.

in my Kernel.log cribs about

any help is appreciated.

This card does not have a default frame buffer assigned. Try Bulrushes or Pithecia at boot time with "AtiConfig=Bulrushes" or "AtiConfig=Pithecia".

Once you know which works best. let me know and I'll add it to next release as the default.

XFX 6570 dual dvi + mini hdmi, AtiConfig=Bulrushes, dvi=black screen

AtiConfig=Pithecia, dvi=black screen

AtiConfig=Gibba, dvi=OK recognized 6570/7570, artifacts half of the screen, neighbors

AtiConfig=Ipomoea, dvi=OK, no artifacts, recognized 6570/7570, unfortunately with 1 monitor dual screen activated vga

Tested Atiports=3 PciRootUid=0/1 GraphicsEnabler=Yes with and without

Tested all framebuffer :banghead:

Misfortune

No adapter Mini hdmi, port not tested

Sorry english google translator :)

Thanks a mil MACMAN :ugeek: , I will try it and post it.

My bigger worry is why is my Chimera loads so slow. It takes 35 seconds. It used to load under 6 seconds.
Is there a log I can check? Kernel.log is not helping me.

HDMI and DVI connected to same display

npci=0x3000 darkwake=0 AtiConfig=Bulrushes AtiPorts=3 or 4

System information shows

AMD Radeon HD 6570:

and shows two monitors

HDMI works
DVI doesn't work

Strage thing is :banghead: :banghead:
DVI shows Background but doesn't show real desktop.
Kernel.log cribbs same thing RadeonMonitor: Unknown DeviceID!
And my Chimera boots very slo(34 o's to be precise)w.
