Hello everybody,
i'am considering building a custo MacPro.
In the June buyer's guide, the HD is a seagate 7200.12.
Can i change it by a seagate 7200.14 ? (twice cheaper)

by the way, the first one has 32mo and the second one has 64mo

Thank you
ed

My $.02, is don't buy Seagate. I've been working in IT for a very long time and I can tell you that both professionally and personally I have seen more Seagate drives fail than any other brand. I will happily pay the premium for Western Digital. I'm not saying that I haven't had WD's or others fail, but Seagate is my last choice.

If you are going to use it for a data drive, then the Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 will and is also available at Amazon Freance > http://www.amazon.fr/dp/B006GAK6EI/?tag=tonymacx8607-21.

We don't recommend you use it to install OS X as you'll have the boot0 error problem. However, this guide might help overcome that problem: boot0 Error: The Official Thread.

As for Seagate vs. Western Digital vs. whatever, you're experience may or may not be different than an IT shop. I've used them all, and, quite frankly, it's model dependent, not manufacturer dependent. But, then again, I'm not an IT specialist. ;)
