have I missed something in the past 2 years?

ok, switched the Asus z170 pro for a gigabyte z170 gaming 5, and its much simpler to set up and get working.
Anyway, I'm having this weird flickering black artefact at the top right of my screen, its not worth taking a pic of and putting up, it doesn't effect performance or anything that I can see, its just a bit annoying.

Im using the internal HD530 graphics via DP or HDMI, makes not difference its still there.

So I started looking through the forum and the build recommendations and notice, graphics cards are being recommended for all setups that I can see. But why can't you use the in built GPU on the chip? we used to with the older chips 2 or 3 years ago no problem? is this artefact the reason why I should be using a PCiE card instead?

or have I missed a setting somewhere? oh, also, when I click restart, and I'm attached to the DP, theres no output at all. I have to shut down and restart to get it back.

Im thinking I'm answering my own question here lol
