Haswell-E + X99 Motherboard Temporary Guide - OS X 10.10

Haswell-E + X99 Motherboard Temporary Guide - OS X 10.10.0

ASUS X99 running fast and stable with 5820K.
Bios V 0904. Disable all cpu powermanagement features !
Attention:
Only use USB 3.0 Universal Driver and Vodootscsync from Multibeast.
Do not use ANY other driver. Otherwise you may run into kernel panics.

I did the install on the ASUS X99 Deluxe 2 times ->follow my guide on previous post #109.

Make sure, you do not restart the system after install (you may get a CMOS Reset), only power down and start from zero. Make sure that the powermanagement in yosemite is turned off (Energy->never go to sleep ->more than 3 hours), otherwise your monitor is getting dark and will not wake up again.

Dock was not working well - after install of external mouse driver, (Mad Catz MMO7) all fine.
Videos were not working well - after install of compressor and all the apple codecs - all fine.
Sound is not working yet, i dont care, i have an external USB card.

When everything is finished, take a second hard disk, format it with new partition (options:MBR !) and clone it with CCC. Do not care about hints from CCC.

Boot from stick, run the new harddisk, run Multibeast and install chimera 4 as bootloader.
Enjoy the lightning fast system !

Bravissimo!
still a "ASUS user" Succeded but always with a 5820k not 5960x
that's why i say, think, it is not directly from the ASUS MB, but the cpu.
it's just a intuation...

Here's where I get stuck with Asus and 5960x:

Did you use all the bootflags at the same time ? Looks like not... - use:

-v -x -f npci=0x2000 cpus=1 kext-dev-mode=1

(and maybe:
nv_disable=1
which depends on the grafics)

I have Bios v 0904 on Asus x99 deluxe and choose some different options :

BIOS
First : Click on default settings to reload original, save and reboot.

Then:
BIOS Settings
1. i disabled the wifi ( i had a kernel panic )
2. i put the Boot->USB Support-> from partial initialization to full initialization
3. i disabled ALL CPU powermanagement features. Speedstep....

I did too...

Do not forget to copy the patched kernel again after first installation from USB.

Boot with USB again and then after "hello" go direct to Utilities -> terminal and type

cp -R /Volumes/USB/System/Library/Kernels/kernel /Volumes/Yosemite/System/Library/Kernels/

where "Yosemite" is the name of your harddrive, which could be diffrent.

Do not install all the stuff again, just reboot and then run the installated harddisk for the first time with all the bootflags as described.

Followed Winston's instructions to the letter.
Still PCI Configuration Begin and instant reboot...

If anyone wants to send me an i7-5960x to test on my Gigabyte X99 UD4, I'll do it!

Seriously, has anyone been successful with audio using Toleda's patch:

https://github.com/toleda/audio_CloverALC

And if you did, can you do a simple summary of the steps? My brain is exploding going through the instructions. I really don't need audio because of my BT speaker, but I am going to write a full guide for UD4 and this is the only thing not working now. I would not mind HDMI audio working though.

Thanks!

Well - just a thought - it could be that the 5960 is (because of his 40 pci lanes) different in pci-booting as the 5820 (28 lanes). Remember the nice white LEDs on the board for the setup of the pci / SLI-configuration.

You may put the grafic card physically not in pci port 1 but in pci port 3. This is what i would try out. This means it will start with 16/8 lanes configuration not with 16/16 regarding the MB-layout. Or put in port 4 (just 8 lanes, but you do not need more, just in some cases).

But actually this is a tryout...there must be differences between the processors and the only described difference from Asus is the different pci-lanes-config.
