Some time ago I posted my build using Mavericks 10.9.3. Since then, I never updated the system again. Meanwhile, a lot of things have happened (Clover), and so I decided to upgrade to El Capitan 10.11.3.

I didn't find a user build guide for the GA-Q77M-D2H running El Capitan, so I decided to share my experience. First of all, the installation and configuration is very easy using this hardware and everything works fine for me:

Audio: works
Front audio: works
Optical audio: works
HDMI audio: works (using the "AMD/Nvidia HDMI Audio [Easy Guide]")
Display: DVI and HDMI works. Dual Display: works
Sleep/Wake: works
Ethernet: works
iCloud: works
AppStore: works
TimeMachine: works
AirPlay Mirror: not tested yet
USB3: works

El Capitan Install Process:

  1. BIOS: Just use tony´s guide: http://www.tonymacx86.com/99-quick-guide-configuring-uefi-gigabyte-s-7-series-lga-1155-boards.html
(Set everything back to factory default; then set SATA to Run AHCI; Peripherals - Set xHCI mode to AUTO; Enable xHCI and EHCI Hand-off; because of using a discrete graphics card I set Init Display First to PEG; Set internal Graphic memory to 64M)

  2. Download El Capitan 10.11.3 from the AppStore, run Unibeast 6.1.1 and install El Captian 10.11.3. Also just use tony´s guide: http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capita...-el-capitan-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html
Note: In order to boot from the "UniBeast Bootable USB Drive" you have to press "F12" when turning on the computer and then choose "UEFI: USB USB Hard Drive":

After the installation of El Capitan is finished you have to boot once more from the "UniBeast Bootable USB Drive" and choose the hard drive you just used to install El Capitan.
  3. Run Multibeast 8.0.1 with this settings:

  4. Remove the "UniBeast Bootable USB Drive", reboot, press "F12" and change the boot ordner to "UEFI: xxxxx" <- the name of your hard drive.
    Change Boot Order.jpg
    Save the BIOS settings.
  5. Reboot
  6. Enable Trim
  7. Done!

I also restored all my files using the Migration Assistant. But be aware of the "Other files and folders".

hey man, I have the almost exact hardware config you have, and it is working like a charm, never had any problem, went through the updates since Mavericks. still, maybe you can help me out. It seems I have lost virtualization capabilities after a certain point, and I cannot pinpoint it. are you using parallels desktop? been able to used since forever, all my CPU cores being detected, now only one. any ideas what could be wrong? I am certain it is just some small setting somewhere, but I can't seem to figure it out.

thanks.
