I have HP Elitebook 840 G4 running the last version of High Sierra, after some usage, the interface and the audio starts to stutter, it starts randomly. The only way to stop is restarting.

Is there a way to find out what's going on?

I'm also having the same problem with my Elitebook 840 G4, I set it up using the guide yesterday

EDIT: Just realized this topic is for High Sierra, I installed Mojave

But it's still the same symptoms

I was also having the same problem on Mojave, i installed High Sierra trying to avoid this issue.
If you solve this issue please contact, i'll do the same.
This time i installed using DSDT, not the hotpatch method, but the same problem occurs no matter what.

Everything I've read seems to suggest that the Intel NVME drive in the laptop is what's causing this

I replaced the Intel NVME drive with a Crucial and everything is rock solid now

I finally replaced the Intel NVMe with a Crucial P1 1TB NVMe, the only remaining issue is that when it comes back from sleep Chrome, Safari and Spotify freeze to death and a reboot is required. The rest is working 100%.
I also installed a DW1560 WiFI card is replacement of the Intel.
One more time, thanks for suggesting me to replace the SSD.
