Hello everyone,

I have recently buy a Mac G5 and I plan to use the case for build an hackintosh. But now I wonder myself if it's more easy to use a Mac Pro 1.1 case, cause the power supply seems more standar form factor. (and Mac Pro 1.1 have already more slot for connector on the back and front panel)

I want to build the mod wihout cut the case, 100% original external.

In other hand the G5 I have buy is working (and usable) .. It's a pain for me to kill a old 100% original mac to create a Hackintosh.

Last question : I have found in the internet some 1000 W power supply (for the G5), can I use it with a normal motherboard ? Connector seems standard for the 600 w model but not for the 1000w.

I would recommend against using the G5 power supply, even though it lines up real nice. It's a loud supply, it generates a ton of noise and heat, not to mention it's over a decade old at this point. I've had a few fail on me in fact, and that was probably 5 years ago at this point- they're pretty much a slow ticking time bomb. There's very little you'll need a 1000W power supply for, unless you're running a bunch of graphics cards or maybe the highest end Xeons.

I think I really need only 700 W (to be not bottle neck if I had something in the futur).
I just asked ;) cause the form factor flat on the bottom of the case seems a good idea for keep place for the ATI motherboard ! CPU will be high end I7 and GPU GTX 1080Ti, with 2 ssd and a regular hdd.
