Hackintosh future uncertain with propietary chipsets?

Personally I think it's unlikely. They used to use something close to proprietary (PPC) before switching to Intel where they saw the biggest jump in mac sales they ever have.

The main reason I suspect they'd move to their own chipset would be to remove the need for backwards compatibility that all of Intel's x86 CPUs carry along with them. I could be wrong of course, if someone knows better please slap me down!

It remains to be seen though if this would affect installations of Windows. Would bootcamp have to sit as a layer? Would Windows get updated to support the CPU? Would the CPU natively support the most recent instruction sets from Intel chips? so many questions!
 
I think Windows 10 can run on ARM procs. So yeah I bet all the DIY stuff is going to go away sooner than we think...Its also the self driving car thing...manufacturers for years have been trying to make it illegal to work on your own car...and with self driving cars coming out soon...thats a very good reality.

DIY is going away in certain markets unfortunately.
