I can now testify to the fact that freeing the dock and leaving only ten icons made my system slightly faster responsive and with less click-launch lag.
Can anyone confirm this with own experience?

Nope, I have 20 icons and everything is lightning fast, maybe because of the SSD... :p

It's not the general speed or performance - the Geekbench scores remain the same. It's just that click-and-startup time is quicker than before.
My friend who is a Mac user for decades has just confirmed that it's a well-known trick.

Mine is really blazing fast for click and startup time.Clicking on MS Word, Excel & Powerpoint instantly open the apps. Not even a blink on the eyes... :)

With a Celeron G530 you are going to notice the difference with small tweaks that will not have any significance for processors costing 5 to 10 times as much.....anything you can do to squeeze a bit more from that chip will help, particularly in reducing your boot to functional desktop times.
