You could try changing it (with Multibeast) to iMac12,2 and see how you get on.
It's easy enough to revert if you don't like it.
appears i got it, did a fresh install of mavericks 10.9 to make sure.
for the install, changed enable internal graphics to AUTO, then after the install, changed it to YES, now auto/manual sleep i no longer get the black screen. hopefully this will help.
