Hey guys,

I'm elbow-deep in my build here, and have hit a brick wall.

Specs:
GA-Z77X-UD5H rev 1.1
3570K i5
4GB x 2 Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 / 12800
Corsair 600W PSU
Intel 520 SSD

I have everything mounted in the case, cables attached. With the PSU's power switch flicked, I get the amber light on the motherboard. When I hit that button or the power button on the case, I get the fans turning on for maybe a second before shutting off. No sounds, nothing on the attached display. No number codes on the motherboard. I'm trying the whole removing the battery for 15 minutes trick to see if that helps.

It's been roughly 15 years since I did my last PC build, so I'm pretty stumped. What should I try next?

Thanks guys!

Check the plug orientation on the 1 x 8 pin 12V connector - you may have it rotated 180 degrees

Yeah, sure enough this was it. High fives all around!

Your welcome

I'm having this exact same problem right now. Exactly which connector are you talking about?

Motherboards have 2x power connectors from the CPU. One is the 24pin (usually) and one is either 4 or 8 pin. The 4/8 pin one supplies power to the cpu and is found right next to it. If the motherboard does not receive a signal from the cpu, it shuts down.

You probably don't have this connected.

Good luck

Yea, they are both connected properly, still happening.
