The Mountain Mods motherboard trays and backs are the best option, you can get both as a kit for less than buying all the parts.

But it defaults to the single 120mm fan hole that one is to large it is 8.38" but you can change it to the 2 80mm fan option and the back plate is only 6.87"

I am in the process of building a Mac Pro case for my home theater system as soon as its done I am going to start rebuilding my G5 case getting it ready for a Sandy Bridge build as soon as the chips are supported.

You may want to take a look at the post I just made about how to wire in a remote eject button on the DVD drive, that is the biggest pain I have found with these cases is not being able to eject the drive when you are not in the OS.

Hope its helpful

Im soon going to do this and i have many questions lol.
Starting case modding for the first time, tried i have an identical build to yours.
1. Would this rotary kit work? http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R ... ogId=10053
2. Would i need to completely take it apart as you did to do this? I wont be painting it i will be keeping it a basic silver looking mac pro case, maybe eventually ill cut a window into it.
3. I understand the concept of that replacement mobo tray but where do you cut exactly from the back? Not the whole back off right?
4. Thanks for your help!

You do not have to take it all the way appart if you dont want to, I havent on my first two builds but I am thinking of rebuilding my first one as soon as I am done with my second one and I will most likely take it all the way apart this time and make it a little better looking.

I would say get a soldering iron if you do not have one and practice you will need that skill when you are doing the front ports, I have soldered a lot on the build I am working on now. And get some scrap aluminum to make some practice cut on before you cut into you case get a feel for the Dremel tool before you cut in to something you paid $$$ for.

After some consideration ive decided not to do it, not worth spending money on a dremel, a G5 case and all the other parts if i wont be able to get it right. Glad i didnt order all the stuff yet! Thanks for your help!

Didn't you cut a hole in the bottom of your case for the PSU?
