[SOLVED] H97N-WIFI Bluetooth problem (built-in and USB dongle)

***UPDATE 3/19/2015*** - SOLVED!!!

I have successfully installed Yosemite (10.10.2) with my setup:

Gigabyte GA-H97N-WIFI
Intel Xeon E3 1231V3
Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB Kit (2x8GB)
Intel SSD
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 750 (1024mb)

However, I am seeing a problem with the built in Bluetooth. It just keeps searching and it is always on. The "Turn Bluetooth Off" is greyed out. So I decided to go with the Bluetooth USB dongle route since I have searched and saw even when the built-in bluetooth to work, it is unstable.

So now the problem is when the Bluetooth USB dongle is plugged in, nothing happens.

In my System Report -> USB, I have 2 Bluetooth USB Host Controller showing:

Product ID: 0x07dc
Vendor ID: 0x8087 (Intel Corporation)
Version: 0.01
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: Apple Inc.
Location ID: 0x14b00000 / 4
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): 100

Product ID: 0x0001
Vendor ID: 0x0a12 (Cambridge Silicon Radio Ltd.)
Version: 75.58
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: Apple Inc.
Location ID: 0x14800000 / 3
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): 0

I have plugged in this Bluetooth USB dongle into my MacBook Air (OS X 10.9.5) and it does work.

Can anyone help? What do I need to do to get the Bluetooth USB dongle to work? Thanks in advance!

I have deleted com.apple.bluetooth.plist and rebooted, but that didn't do anything.

I have searched through possible solutions, but still can't figure out how to get bluetooth to work. Any ideas?

Very less bluetooth can be turn of in OS X. Why you want to do the Turn Off ?? See below, mine one also not able to turn off.

So Bluetooth can't be turned off on Hackintosh? I was assuming it is just like regular Mac where Bluetooth can be turned on/off freely.

Since I read that the integrated Bluetooth on H97N-WIFI mobo is not stable, I want to use the Bluetooth USB dongle as default. Now the problem I am having is that when I plug-in the Bluetooth USB dongle, it just stays as:
Now Discoverable as
"Name Mac Pro"

When the Bluetooth USB dongle is plugged in to my MacBook Air (with bluetooth off), the bluetooth turns on and shows:
Now Discoverable as
"CSR-BT4.0"

I don't understand how come it is not doing the same on my Hackintosh?

Anyway it is discoverable. Right. Use with that name.

Sorry, I think you read my situation wrong. I was saying that when I have the Bluetooth USB dongle plugged in, it stays as:
Now Discoverable as
"Name Mac Pro"

This means it is still staying as the default built-in bluetooth.

I will try the taping method to disable the built-in bluetooth. I will report back.

Sorry for misunderstanding.

So, your onboard bluetooth is enabled and it showing in the Sys Pref > Bluetooth.

And you want disable the onboard bluetooth now, for using the USB one.

I think you can disable the onboard bluetooth adapter on the BIOS.

I had Bluetooth issues with my Z87N-Wifi and bought a dongle as well.

I found that if plugged into a USB port it was unstable and would randomly add and drop my trackpad.

I fixed it by using the USB port on my Apple Keyboard. I don't know if it was the lower power, or what, but it has been solid and stable ever since with no software modifications.

The taping method worked! The built-in bluetooth on the H97N-WIFI motherboard was not detected after I taped off the pins.

I followed the suggestion from here: Can't Switch off Bluetooth

The H97N-WIFI has the Intel 7260HMW mini PCI Express. And I taped off these 2 pins:
7260.jpeg

After taping off the pins, I installed the card back. I booted my Hackintosh and bluetooth is not available. Then I plug in the Bluetooth USB dongle and bluetooth becomes available. I can toggle to turn on/off bluetooth freely.

Now I just have to see how stable this Bluetooth USB dongle is with the Apple Keyboard and mouse.
