Thanks Shilohh, will try this when I get home, the problem I'm facing must be because I'm not on the newest bios. Must I patch the bios if I do not want speedstep?
No need to patch bios 4802 or 4804 but you'll want to use one of those because they are the ones that have ivy-e CPU support

How can I check if I have MSR register 0xE2 bit 15 set or not? I have a P9X79-E WS with latest 1501 BIOS and can update to latest 1602 BIOS when I'm back home in a couple days.
Use the AICPUPMI kext. I'll try to update the op later to illustrate.

Yes but I'm not sure if the latest bios is unlocked so you might have to patch it using coderush's tool. Try it.
I downloaded the latest bios (4608) and used coderush´s tool with this result

Curious to what I need to do to get correctly working p-states... My cpu is an Intel i7 3820, and my motherboard is a P9X79 Pro. Here is the log of my p-states:

Mar 21 16:36:55 localhost kernel[0]: AICPUPMI: CPU P-States [ 36 ]
Mar 21 16:36:55 localhost kernel[0]: AICPUPMI: CPU P-States [ 12 36 ]
Mar 21 16:36:56 Isaacs-Mac-Pro kernel[0]: AICPUPMI: CPU P-States [ 12 36 37 ]

I had run a Geekbench and just done other normal tasks.

I set turbo to 4200 so that is also weird to ass why it isn't detecting that.

Thanks!
