Guide To Install Yosemite on HP Laptops with Clover UEFI

I did follow the guide but was digging through the clover wiki and noticed the author said real macs disable speed stepping.

I upgraded my screen to 1080P. Mac OS X is in 1080p but I can not get the clover themes in 1080. I have injected, patched, EUID and tried every thing I could but on start up max resolution found is always:

Bootlog....
0:367 0:117 LoadDrivers() end
0:367 0:000 Dump SMC keys from NVRAM:
0:367 0:000 SetScreenResolution: 1920x1080 - not found!
0:367 0:000 SetMaxResolution: found best mode 0: 1024x768
0:367 0:000 - already set
0:367 0:000 Console modes reported: 4, available modes:
0:367 0:000 Mode 1: 80x25 (current mode)
0:367 0:000 Mode 3: 120x36
0:367 0:000 Mode 4: 128x40
0:367 0:000 reinit: self device path=PciRoot(0x0)\Pci(0x1F,0x2)\Sata(0x0,0x0,0x0)\HD(1,GPT,50805E9A-70DE-4F9F-AE90-0E9876C26E6B,0x28,0x64000)

No matter the setting/no_settings I try it all ends the same... 1024x768.

You won't get any resolutions higher that with the Clover GUI due to HP's UEFI implementation. I believe it's due to a lack of a compatibility support module (CSM) in the UEFI - though I'm no expert in that area.

Not true.

BIOS probably does not provide 1920x1080 as a valid VESA mode.

Rehab you're so right. I was reading the C3 latency section and read it wrong. I just pulled it back up and it's clear what he was talking about now. He was referring to C3 and power management... in regards to C3.. etc.. That's kinda why I brought it up.. I couldn't figure out why Apple would not use SpeedStep... Made no sense.

Well that ends that! Thanks.

Resolution issue...
I am assuming HP bios makers don't want an accurate reading at boot or else they can't have a one size bios fits all... Makes sense from their point of view but again it's just lazy IMHO. This is why all the bios resolutions are garbage on their laptops.

Huge thanks once again... Making another donation to the project this week..

Mostly it is just laziness... But when you think about it, the average user is not affected by this at all, which is why something like that doesn't rate high on the OEM's priority list. Furthermore, the laptop is not available with a 1080p screen.

Hello,
I'm getting ready to turn in hackintosh my new HP EliteBook 8460p.
Now equipped with a wifi intel mini pci express which obviously does not go on osx.
Reading the [Guide] Airport - Half Mini PCIe v2 by toleda I understand that to have wifi + bt + handoff \ continuity I have to buy a BCM94352.

I would need some confirmations :
1) It works oob?
2) this is fine? http://www.ebay.it/itm/Azurewave-AW...338?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cdbbe923a
3) What is the difference compared to the more expensive BCM94360?

thanks!

Issue solved, I assume...

Yes, with with USB Key OSX Installer, but i don't understand why ?
When you make custom entries, config.plist must be modified when you close clover configurator, isnt'it ?
Step by step I did this
  • Update P.B.I.C.E for USB3,
  • Custom entries previously made have disappeared

The GUI is no longer the same is this normal?
  • I create only W8 custom entries to check the next reboot.
  • Clover configurator propose to save changes and replace the config.plist, I say yes
Next reboot, i have only W8 entrie in menu and misspelled.

If you know has brought me these gaps I'm interested, thank you

Post the config.plist before and after your edit.

Excuse but are passed directly from the introduction to the known problems without see compatible wifi cards

apparently I have to buy a broadcom 43224HMS ..... but there is a lock in the bios that prevents to mount other boards? I had resolved in my pavilion dv5 editing the bios with a hex editor ...

from what I read the 43224 does not support continuity \ handoff right?

edit: ok I saw that the broadcom 43224 works with the patch http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/302410-patch-enabling-handoff-for-non-apple-bt4-devices/
