[Guide] Simple & fully functioning install of El Capitan to Gigabyte Z77-DS3H

Has someone installed FakeSMC Plugins and HWMonitor?

I just did a fresh install of El Capitan and Multibeast and I skipped FakeSMCPlugins and HWMonitor since there were people that had problems with this on this MoBo before. In my previous Mac OS X I did this as well but had no issue, but in El Capitan everything was working fine until I installed FakeSMCPlugins and HWMonitor, I tried to manually delete them but it didn't solve the problem, I'm not sure if besides deleting them there is some kind of clear cache to do or something.

I used the sudo rm -rf for each kext.

In the end I might do another fresh install.

There were apparently two versions of this motherboard, one with the Atheros 8151 and one with the Atheros 8161

Correct! Rev 1.0 = 8151 and Rev 1.1 = 8161
Unless it has been changed recently, ALXEthernet.kext will not work correctly with the Rev 1.0 mobo.

ALXEthernet.kexts works perfectly fine for me. I'm using it in 10.11.2 no problems.

As it did for me for quite a while in 10.8.x. Then I started trying to move files to an NFS server. Instant freeze every time. Other activities (generally involving sending, not receiving) would also trip the bug.

If it's working for you, great, but that's only because your particular use pattern isn't tripping the bug. It's widely known to be unstable with certain uses, so why recommend it when there's a known good alternative?

Yes, they worked fine for me. I got the "HWSensors.6.18.1394" package directly from the author's site, not from here. (If you can find that version or later here, I'm sure it'll be fine too.)

Does anyone have a link handy to a post that can provide either a recipe for working USB3 5gbps ports for this motherboard, or a working sleep config? Sleep is definitely NOT working out of the box for me. Without those two things, this guide seems incomplete.

I also have problem with ALXEthernet.kext. During uploading video to youtube my computer reboot. If iI use wi-fi card and unplug internet cable all work fine. In the problem report

ALXEthernet.kext still does not work as desired. If you think it's working ok, try running speeedtest.com in safari. I use another network card and it's OK. But sleep still does not work in the same configuration (except bios v11)

having trouble with using audio_cloverALC-110_v1.0g.command with "y" retrun several times.

I run the command below, but still only show my usb audio device after reboot.

I use another network card too. I can't find another solution to work with integrated card without problems.

thanks i had a screwed up config.plist that was the cause. after getting a new one all is well.
