[Guide] Lenovo Z50-70/Z40-70/G50-70/G40-70 using Clover UEFI

Maybe you can try this? I use BrcmPathRAM3 along with BrcmFirmwareData and BrcmBluetoothInjector injected through clover and it works well.

Hi guys, I have had a working Mohave with this thread's tutorial on a G50-70, but recently I tried to upgrade to Catalina. I'm now having a boot loop / kernel panic, with the following error: IOPolledFileWrite. Do you have any clue, how to proceed fixing it?

Thanks, I have updated the profile info. Will try to update the Clover version too.
EDIT: Clover updated, kernel panic gone, Hello Catalina :)

Thanks for replying but silly me didn't rebuild kext cache *facepalm* so after fixing permissions

sudo chmod -Rf 755 /L*/E*
sudo chown -Rf 0:0 /L*/E*
and rebuild kext cache

it now finally works!
 
Ok, a new/old problem, also present in Catalina for me with Clover r4961.

If my monitor is attached to the VGA port when Clover is loading, then every time I get this kernel panic.
If there is no VGA monitor attached until the macOS login screen, then I can attach it at that point without problems.

It does not matter if there is a second HDMI monitor attached or not.
Also the fact, that Clover has already loaded is important. If I disconnect the monitor at the Clover boot menu screen, then it will panic again... I have to reboot once with the monitor detached.

And this is bugging me a lot... I have to detach / reattach my VGA monitor on every laptop power-on.
This was an issue for me since High Sierra, later with Mojave, and now with Catalina.
Any help or idea will be greatly appreciated!

Does anyone see why it keeps crashing?

EDIT: I researched a bit more and found a post saying turning off power saving mode for hard drives fixed it but for me, it still happens

  2. Put all the needed kexts in Other/
    (some are not the same installed by @the-braveknight's script, I linked the github/bitbucket release pages from where I downloded the ones I am actually using)
  3. Double check your clover drivers, new clover has a different folder structure, put those listed below in CLOVER/drivers/UEFI/
    • ApfsDriverLoader.efi
    • AptioInputFix.efi
    • AptioMemoryFix.efi
    • AudioDxe.efi
    • DataHubDxe.efi
    • FSInject.efi
    • HFSPlus.efi
    • NTFS.efi
    • Ps2MouseDxe.efi
    • SMCHelper.efi
    • UsbKbDxe.efi
    • UsbMouseDxe.efi
    • VBoxExt2.efi
    • VBoxExt4.efi
  4. Update macOS from System Preferences
That's it.
