[Guide] Lenovo Y50 (UHD or 1080p) using Clover UEFI

Hey, man
I got a Y50 UHD model and I'm considering installing a Mac OS on it.
It seems that the first step is SETTING DVMT before doing everything.
The guide after the first step is so specific and well maintained.
But I am just confused about the first step.
Will you please list the steps needed for setting DVMT?
Or paste some links of guide for setting DVMT?
Thank you!

Read the links in the FAQ, so you know how to obtain the UEFI shell and run it.

The offset for setup_var are specified in post #1.

I found that the BIOS version of my model is 2.01, and many people said that I had to downgrade to 1.14 to change DVMT. It's said that after changing DVMT, upgrading BIOS to 2.01 won't change the DVMT. This is a good news! Cause 1.14 has the problem of heat!

But!
We have to change the WIFI model to BCM94352Z, is there a whitelist version of 2.01? I don't want my laptop becoming a heater and making noise.

Since some are using a patched BIOS, not sure on this one...

Purchase the card, install it, and report back.

Confirmed~! I didn't do this, but a I found a guy from China did it.
And he used the method you provided!
He posted it on a Chinese forum

And amazingly I found the WIFI card in the model I got is NOT Intel.
It's BCM4352~! I think this card will be much more easily to find its driver.
Do you know some who has succeeded on this card?

Maybe the laptops produced in this year are all equipped with BCM4352 which is really nice~!

If you follow the guide in post #1, it "just works".

The techniques implemented by this guide for BCM94352 are detailed in the FAQ.

Hello RehabMan.
Have you heard someone succeeded on a 4K model? since you don't have one and you can not test your guide.
I have asked someone who did it with your guide and they said they failed on 4K model.
Do yo got some links who sharing their success?

Thank you very much~!

This guide works for the UHD model.

You have to follow all instructions carefully. One mistake with regard to configuration, and it won't work.

The difficult part with the UHD model is setting DVMT-prealloc since the option is not available from the stock BIOS.

If you read this thread, you'll find plenty of examples of success with the UHD model.

Setting DVMT-prealloc to 128mb is not optional.

Hello ,man
I can not boot into EFI SHELL.
I have downgrade the BIOS to 1.14.
The boot mode is set as Legacy support
If I choose UEFI, I can't find the USB in boot list thought I turn secure boot to disable.

In legacy mode I got a screen

Make sure you have the BOOTX64.efi file in the correct directory on a correctly created USB.

Should be MBR with a single FAT32 partition. The file must exist at \EFI\BOOT\BOOTX64.efi.

The most commonly used guide has an error where it tells you to put it at \BOOT\BOOTX64.efi... But that is not correct and won't work. If you're familiar with UEFI, you know this, but novices may not be familiar with the requirements for UEFI bootloaders.

Also, you have to use your BIOS hotkey for the boot menu, so you can select the USB specifically.
