"Waiting for DSMOS" without a corresponding "DSMOS has arrived" implies that FakeSMC is missing or not loading.

That's strange, isn't it? I mean, I used this same USB to install macOS Sierra on other laptops and it always performed flawlessly. Installer then system boot, all good.

I also can see FakeSMC under CLOVER/kexts/Other. Might it be that it's not being loaded?

I will go ahead and copy it to S/L/E from a command prompt and retry.

All kexts you need should be installed to the system volume.
It is also possible you captured the photo before "DSMOS has arrived" was printed. Impossible for me to know. Only you can verify.

Also note other problems I mentioned (eg. NullCPU not recommended, too may *.efi in drivers64UEFI, etc).

Yup, I remember that part that you wrote in another guide. I think your way is better and you explained nicely.

I'm going to copy the important kexts to S/L/E and report back soon.

Note no need for the "HD4000 high res" patch to your DSDT.
You are already injecting ig-platform-id via Clover.
Remove that patch from DSDT. That will allow you to use an invalid ig-platform-id (0x12345678) to isolate graphics issues from other issues. Also, you could try valid ig-platform-id with safe mode (safe mode disables the graphics accelerator kext).

Also, this guide is for El Capitan. If you are installing Sierra instead, you should be aware of changes:
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/readme-common-some-unsolved-problems-in-10-12-sierra.202316/

For example, the patch you applied for backlight control is wrong for Sierra.
Sierra requires a completely different backlight patching procedure:

Hey again,

Sorry for the late reply. It was already late yesterday and today I had tons of things to do, and one of them was to try out all the wonderful suggestions that you mentioned. And I have good news :)

So, I got the T430 to work with Sierra. 95% working I would say. FireWire and Shutdown aren't. I asked another question about the latter, so if you can lend a hand, that would basically mean I can write a guide for installing Sierra on T430.

By the way, your first guess was the right one: DMOS has arrived -> no FakeSMC. Even though it was under CLOVER/kexts/Other, it wasn't loaded when the system booted from HD. No idea why... The minute I put it under S/L/E and restarted, the system booted immediately.

Thanks you very much for the help! I hope to be able to fix Shutdown before writing the guide.
