You forgot HFSPlus.efi. Always read carefully.

Thanks, fixed it!

Thanks, fixed it!

Looks to me like your problem is caused by the USB WiFi drivers you installed.

USB WiFI is not recommended. The drivers are of poor quality.

Spot on. I removed the wifi adapter and no restarts in 14 hours.

Any ideas what my options are? It seems it is quite difficult to find a wifi card on the Lenovo whitelist, and I haven't found anyone online with success in custom bios for G50-70.

I have found a way of unlocking the MSR - but I don't think this is the same as removing whitelist block and in any case it requires windows - which I have removed...

Installed with no problems, used Multibeast to install FakeSMC, Ethernet driver and Clover. On reboot trackpad and keyboard weren't working.
Tried rebooting from USB with same result.
VoodooPS2Controller.kext is in the CLOVER/kext/10.11 folder on both EFI partitions (USB/HDD)
Rebooted installer, tools->terminal, copied VoodooPS2Controller.kext to /L/E, fixed permissions and ownership (chmod chown), touch /L/E, rebooted system again and all was fine.

I was happy but I wanted more so I started the migration assistant to copy files from my old lapintosh to the new one and went to sleep :p. The new lapintosh can't boot anymore (bootloop) from hdd nor usb, any suggestions?
Reinstalling is not a problem but I like solving issues which may happen again to me or someone else when reinstalling (and losing data) is not a solution.
I tried booting with -v but wasn't able to read the messages cause the machine quickly reboots.
The best info I can provide are:
  • bootloop happens early during the boot process
  • latest messages are about cpu

Thank you

I...

Suggestion: Don't use Migration Assistant.

Info regarding compatible WiFi is in the FAQ.

Thanks for all the help. Unfortunately I am out of my depth. :( I am going with Yosemite which is stable on the laptop and with the hardware I have.

If I didn't have a whitelist then I would definitely have gone internal.

Suggestion: Don't use Migration Assistant.

I found it by myself :p I was just asking suggestions to investigate and solve the issue...
FYI: Migration Assistant copied system files too, so I had to reinstall.

Next steps:
  1. install and configure all the software I need to work (Office, Eclipse, SQL Developer and other Java related stuff): easy
  2. try an hdmi to vga converter: very easy, will give you feedback
  3. wait some days and install the wifi/bt replacement card: medium
  4. enjoy

I am no longer able to download Yosemite from the App Store so El Capitan it is. ;)

I found a Mediatek based WiFi USB adapter (Asus N53) running with BearExtender. When I get past the Whitelist problem, I will change to PCIe.

So now the only thing not working is sleep. It will sleep, but it will only wake by holding the power button (for longer than a second, but not so long it turns the computer off).

Any ideas?

Thanks again for all the help!

USB WiFi not recommended. The drivers are poor and cause instability, especially with sleep.
