[Guide] Lenovo G50-70 and Z50-70 Bios whitelist removal

Hi:

Will the Z50-70 bios (9ACN26WW) work on my Z40-70?

I have sucessfully, patched my bios file.
After searching for a working version of fptw64 the following occurs.

When I run the command for the first time, it quickly exists without any messages.

I tested the wifi card, but the whitelist was not defeated.

so I tried to run the flash process again, and still no messages.

If I try a second time right away, I get an error as follows:

##First time i run the command

C:\Users\Lucas Botelho\Downloads\Flash Programming Tool\WINDOWS64>fptw64.exe -f bios.bin -bios

Intel (R) Flash Programming Tool. Version: 11.0.0.1160
Copyright (c) 2007 - 2015, Intel Corporation. All rights reserved.

##The program ends with no messages at all

## Then I rum the command again

C:\Users\Lucas Botelho\Downloads\Flash Programming Tool\WINDOWS64>fptw64.exe -f bios.bin -bios

Intel (R) Flash Programming Tool. Version: 11.0.0.1160
Copyright (c) 2007 - 2015, Intel Corporation. All rights reserved.

###This time I get the following error

Error 366: Fail to load driver (PCI access for Windows).
Tool needs to run with an administrator priviledge account.
PMxdll.dll DebugMsg: Call to PMXDestroy()

C:\Users\Lucas Botelho\Downloads\Flash Programming Tool\WINDOWS64>

##P.S. Of course I´m running command prompt as administrator.

Please help me....

Hi guys,
I have installed High Sierra on my t420.
Everything works, absolutely everything, except wifi.
I have flashed the bios, so when it starts up it beeps five times, then five times more, which indicates it has been updated.
The card seems to be recognised in System preferences, and the Wifi symbol appears on the top right of the screen.
The only thing is, when I try to turn WiFi on, it just blanks, nothing happens.
Does this mean the Whitelist hasn't been removed, or that the card is faulty?
I booted up in ubuntu, and wifi didnt work there either.

Should I get a new card, or try a different BIOS mod?
(I am using 1.46)

This guide is not about nor tested for T420.

Try the solution proposed on post #250

I have passed described patching of my BIOS on Lenovo G50-70.
At the end, FPTW flashing (version 11.0.0.1160) passed quickly, without any message - prompt just returned to folder with exe and bin files.
I tested with 2 wifi cards (DW1560 and Lenovo 20-200480 04X6020 from Y-series), and received the message: "Unauthorized wireless network card is plugged in. Power off and remove it"
Obviously, the whitelist was not defeated :(

So I did the patching again from the start (loading official BIOS ver.26...up to fptw) - the same result/message again.
Then again, but with other hex editor (Neo) - no luck!
Only Phoenix was the same version (send me a link to version that works to You, pls).
Also after failures (and before next iterations) I edited offsets 2F9, 322 and 366 of 7k file - they were not changed (still 74, never EB).
So, somehow changes were not recorded-and-propagated.

For me, the major suspect for failing is patching part with fptw (either fptw file is not OK, or BIOS password does not allow changes /but Lenovo original BIOS up/down-grades works fine...or something else?)

I You have some ideas, proposals, links to proved tools...please help.
Thank You

I have laptop Lenovo G50-70 with:
-Intel Core i3 CPU
-8GB RAM, 256GB Samsung SSD
-Intel WiFi (will be replaced if whitelist removed)
-Intel Graphics
-Windows 10
...old BIOS, Hex editor...all by the book/Guide

You probably didn't saved properly the file after the hex edit so you built a whitelisted bios
have a look at posts #38 and #69

...newer version found, update done, no extra messages, thank you :)
Which Version and where to download it. Can you share Links or send me via PM

I am stuck at the CMD command line. I have no clue how to navigate to my ftpw65 file which is inside Downloads and a Folder called FPT_Windows64 and I also have no idea when to ad the command line fptw64.exe -f bios.bin -bios. Tried and googled different Things without any success. Absolut newbie when it Comes to cmd and Windows.

Hello, thanks for the work you guys are doing, I would like to do this to a Lenovo G50-80 80LA do you think it's possible to do it following this guide? , Or what modifications would have to be done?

The BIOS is probably similar but you have to find the proper offsets. Flash procedure may be different.
