[Guide] Intel Skylake NUC6 (and Skull Canyon) using Clover UEFI (NUC6i5SYK, NUC6i7KYK, etc)

I originally built (El Capitan install) with another monitor (HDMI->DVI) and had no problems, its is related to this monitor I'm sure. I can live with sleep disabled, though of course it would be great to have it working.

My Skull Canyon model seemed to hang when waking from sleep about half the time and I just assumed it was something weird about the 4k monitor. After hitting the keyboard and mouse, the NUC power button led would go white and the monitor would cycle between all black and no signal indefinitely.

Several days ago though, I figured out that if I just tapped the power button on the NUC the display would start working in about two seconds. I've used that about ten times since and haven't had to power cycle the NUC on wake once. No idea how that helps or why it would only be happening ~ half the time.

One more question before I get started:

My current hard drive has Windows 10 installed. Do I need to delete the partitions before starting or will the installer do that? I am not intending to do dual boot.

You can repartition your drive within Disk Utility.

And....to make sure I got the config.plist correct, I right clicked and downloaded the link. It saved it and appended a ".txt". I copied the file to the USB drive and replaced the existing one with correct name.

Will that work or will it make it unreadable?

You probably downloaded it incorrectly. Correct method is to download the entire github ZIP.

I am sorry but I am having a hard time finding the zip. I tried this link in the Clover guide but I could not find it in the zip: https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-Clover-Laptop-Config/archive/master.zip

And the links in the Intel Skylake NUC6 guide are all directly to the plist file.

Please advise. Thanks.

**** Never mind - I went up a couple of directories to https://github.com/RehabMan/Intel-NUC-DSDT-Patch/ and was able to download the zip.

Thanks.

Post #1 also has direct links. You must save as the correct file name though.

SUCCESS!!!! I have a NUC6i5SYH setup. Thank you Rehabman for all of the help with my simple questions. A couple of notes:

- Completed everything except the SMBIOS change. Is this the best guide to follow? How necessary is this? My iCloud settings appear to be working fine.
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-how-to-configure-your-systems-smbios-correctly.198155/
- The sound appears to pop when sound switches between applications. I am using powered external speakers plugged into the front audio jack so not sure if it is hardware or software
- I did need to delete my Windows partitions. Disk Utility could not erase / format them. I am pretty sure because of this issue:https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...-device-for-requested-operation-error.168286/

Thanks!!!
