Hi guys,

I'm installing a fresh SSD with High Sierra.
I've made it `till the installation of NVIDIA web driver and then I ran into a bizarre problem.
My "About This Mac" says that my Version macOS is 10.13.6 (17G66).
It's not official.
I've Googled it and found that it uses the same kernel as 17G65.
But I can't install the web drivers because it's meant for 17G65 and my hackintosh reports 17G66.
So when I try to install the driver i get the error message from the screenshot below.

What can I do in this case?
Somehow force install the web driver?
Change the reported build number?
Reinstall?

You could use this new gibMacOS download method to get an older 10.13.5 Beta version of High Sierra. I'm not sure why the kernel version was changed. Maybe for a security update ?

Updated Mac OS High Sierra Installation Video
It's been over two years since the first High Sierra video guide was posted. Clover has evolved since then, we've now got AppleALC and Lilu kext method for audio support. A USBPorts.kext for proper USB function etc.

I've primarily documented how to customize your High Sierra Unibeast USB made with the 8.4.0 version of Unibeast. Hopefully those of you using Nvidia Pascal cards that require Web drivers have saved your 10.13.6 installer app so that you can use it to make a new installer. Cards like the GTX 1050 (Ti) are Pascal based. There are problems with the (17G66) kernel version of the High Sierra install app and the web drivers. See: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...17g66-nvidia-doesnt-work.295760/#post-2104816

If you still have to download High Sierra 10.13.6 to make your new installer, take a look at the Purchased tab on the Mac App Store or you can re-download again using the gibMacOS method which I've also posted a guide for.

gibMacOS Tutorial ~ How to Download macOS Catalina

I will post a link here once the new tutorial video is posted.

I don't know if the web drivers will ever work with 17G66. Nvidia and Apple have a rift between them and don't work together. There is a card called the Yeston RX 550 4GB that will work with HS, Mojave and Catalina. It can be bought on Amazon and Ebay. It must be the 4GB version as the 2GB won't work with macOS at all.

Hi guys,

I've found a solution for the 17G66 build of macOS High Sierra incompatibility with NVIDIA drivers.
What worked for me:
- Install macOS 10.13.6 High Sierra (17G66)
- Update it - in my case to High Sierra (17G12034).
- install 387.10.10.10.40.135 NVIDIA driver for macOS 10.13.6 High Sierra (17G12034) - you can find it in download section of this site
- DONE :)

May be it's a good idea before updating macOS to search for a working NVIDIA driver and updating to just this version that has a working driver for it.
