I need a bit of help with #3. I opened the config.plist file with PlistEdit Pro and found the devices section, but the properties section is no where to be seen. Is there any way you can share some photos so I can understand the process a bit easier? (I'm still a bit of a noob at this sorry) Also for the codec commander file there are 2 codec kexts, one in a 'release' folder and the other in a 'debug' folder. Do I use the kext from the release? How to Activate your HP's Front Microphone JackIn post #2 of this thread, I posted a guide to patch your DSDT for working ALC221 audio. That patch doesn't enable the front combo Mic/Headphone jack. If you absolutely need that Mic input to work, you can now use an SSDT and the Codec Commander kext + a minor config.plist edit to get a working Mic jack . If you don't use that front mic jack, simply continue to use your previously patched DSDT for working ALC221 audio. Credit for this method goes to: Sniki
1. Remove your patched DSDT from Clover/ACPI/patched and put it in a folder to keep as a backup option.
2. Back up your current working Clover config.plist. You could put it in the same folder as your patched DSDT.
(this is done in case your edits don't work or the new config.plist gets corrupted some how.)
3. Edit your system drive's Clover config.plist with the following entry in the Devices -> Properties section of that.
(Use a plist editor like PlistEdit Pro or BBedit to make the edit. Do not use the Mac text edit app)
Code:<key>PciRoot(0)/Pci(0x1b,0)</key> <dict> <key>#Comment</key> <string>Realtek ALC221 Audio Configuration</string> <key>hda-gfx</key> <string>onboard-1</string> <key>layout-id</key> <integer>11</integer> </dict>

While in Clover Configurator, change Devices -> Audio -> Inject change this value back to 0 if you had previously changed it to 11 after you patched your DSDT for ALC221

4. Download the two attached files, RehabMan-Codec Commander kext and the SSDT for ALC221
5. Install Codec Commander to /L/E with Kextbeast
6. Drag and drop the SSDT-ALC221.aml into your Clover/ACPI/patched folder
7. Reboot and test out your front combo mic/headphone jack
Upload a copy of your current config.plist. For the codec commander kext you want to use the release version.I need a bit of help with #3. OK I changed post #443 to show the Properties key too. See screen grab for where to enter it in your config.plist.Here you go.
Thank you so much! The front microphone is now working again.OK I changed post #443 to show the Properties key too. See screen grab for where to enter it in your config.plist.

Try installing the latest Whatevergreen kext to /L/E as well as Lilu if you don't have that. Use kextbeast to install the kexts then run Kext Utility to rebuild caches and repair permissions.
Are you selecting install to /L/E or /S/L/E at this stage ? It should only be /L/Ei can't choose /library extensions and system L/E at the sale time, i only can check one of them.
