Also test after sleep to be sure the ports work as expected after sleep.

The USB ports all work as USB2 and USB3 before and after sleep. I noticed, however, that the touchscreen hasn't worked since installing USBXHC_Envy.kext

So I've downloaded clover onto my newly running osx. Installed to macintosh HD. Tried to boot without my USB plugged in, no dice. Followed the guide, but the instructions are circuitous and lead me back around. Where am I installing this new bootloader?

Did you setup EFI/Clover exactly as for USB? (Clover/kexts/Other, config.plist, HFSPlus.efi, etc)

Post ioreg with and without USBXHC_Envy.kext installed.

It will probably work. My Envy-J had a BCM94352HMB when I purchased it.

It is the recommended card for this guide (see post #1).

I got the card and it shows up in the task bar but it wouldn't turn on. I did the re-patch and it still does not turn on.

When I boot using the USB drive it is on. I am using El Capitan 10.11.1

1. removed current hdd, att another hdd with windows installed, wifi works.

2. changed hdd and booted with clover installation usb prepared as per ur guide, wifi works,

3. rebooted with usb removed, wifi doesn't work :s

I have the exact same issue. Were you able to solve it?

See post #1, "Problem Reporting"

Make sure you press F4 prior to capturing EFI/Clover.

Provide ioreg and patchmatic output both booting from HDD and from USB.

It didn't work.

Post patchmatic output for verification.

And... before we go too far down this path, make sure you have the latest BIOS installed from HP.

Reports of this problem are not widespread, so I wonder if it has something to do with BIOS version or specific BIOS options you chose.
