My newest post in Deals of the Day:

TLDR: These LP cards can give you working graphics via DP in an SFF 6300 or 8300. Works great when you've got the i5-3470 which has unsupported HD2500 intel gfx.

So with all this talk about GPUs, i was going to get a RX560 put they shot so far up in price, someone else in this thread recommended the 550 instead, any one have decent benchmarks, how does it compare to a 1050Ti? any other SFF 8300 compatible cards for light gaming/video editing that would be an upgrade from my 1030?

Nowhere near a 1050 Ti in terms of gaming performance. I wouldn't buy one for that. I think that the 550s (yeston) that do work with macOS are probably rebranded RX 460s. You could look up the specs on one of those.

The ones that are true 550s (Polaris 12) are not macOS compatible. Here's info from the initial 550 release.
AMD have released a new Polaris 12 GPU, the Radeon RX 550. It is a sub-$100 entry level GPU, targeted at those who want an inexpensive, low profile, low power and low performance component for mini desktop PCs or a minor upgrade on integrated GPUs. It has just 8 compute units, a boost clock of 1183 MHz and comes with either 2 or 4 Gb of GDDR5 memory capable of delivering up to 112 GB/s bandwidth. As expected from a discrete GPU, the RX 550 wipes the floor with Intel’s current best desktop iGPU (HD 630 (Kaby Lake). The RX 550 is expected to be around 70% as fast as the only $20 dearer RX 560 (the successor to the RX 460 to be released next month)

Why rebrand the 460 chips and call them a 550 ? To get rid of old stock that didn't sell. When it's called a 550 consumers think they're getting a one gen newer card.

If you do a Google search you won't see a single true RX 550 LP that has a VGA port (blue).

Updated to Catalina 10.15.3 (19D76) yesterday, everything seems to be working well. Did a clean install from USB using Unibeast 10.0.0. I wasn't having much joy from the desktop or attempting to overwrite.
