I'm experiencing some instability in the last few days. Does boot first time, have to force shut down then normally boots on second attempt. Just had it crash and reboot, see crash log below.

The only change i have made was adding more ram but it worked fine for a day after, could this be the issue. The only other thing is that i somehow damaged the computer in transit, which i highly doubt as nothing happened in transit that could have damaged it. The only other idea i have had is that the SSD is failing, but im really clutching at strews here.

Try taking out the new ram and then try and boot. Is the new ram the same speed and timings as the existing two 8 GB modules ?

I replaced all the ram with secondhand ebay

That's compatible ram. Why don't you test out each one individually and see if one or more of them causes the KP. You can also run memetest 86 + from a USB drive and see if that shows any problems.

So any news on Radeon GPUs regarding newest OSX update?
Still 100% OOB only 280x ? (with relative great price/performance).

I've read somewhere that with newest update some GPUs are free from Black Screen effect and requirement of boot iGPU/Helper card.

The 3 Radeon RX Vega cards have been working OOB with High Sierra Beta . Not of much use to HP 8300 owners for three reasons. Power consumption, heat and cost. The 240W or 320W OEM PSU will not be able to handle these due to the first two reasons. The lowest power draw of the three is the Vega 56. That's rated at 210W. Once the coin miners start buying these up the prices will go even higher. Hopefully AMD will release some lower power, lower cost, low profile versions that may work in these HP systems. Would be their versions of the Nvidia Quadro P400 and P1000 workstation cards. Those work very well with the current Nvidia web drivers installed and are low profile. If anyone needs WS class Nvidia graphics those are the way to go currently.

11 hours into memtest (should it take that long). One error found, not sure what this means, see image

wow! haven't seen memtest for years!

used to use it on machines with 4mb ram

11 hours i suppose is about right as it was designed for lower spec machines :)

Does anyone know what can stand behind "XLR Unknown Digital Out at Ext Rear" in 8300 CMT?
