[GUIDE] General Framebuffer Patching Guide (HDMI Black Screen Problem)

Hi @CaseySJ

I have a Samsung Ativ Book 9 Pro with 4K built-in monitor and Mojave installed. An internal 4K monitor is not detected while other external monitors work (including 4K monitor). CPU is 6700HQ and IGPU Intel HD 530 with 2GB VRAM (MAX) and NVIDIA GTX 750M.

I have read almost pages of this topic but still find a solution. So I need Your help.

did somebody already done patch to Z170-UD5-TH ?

@sektor1952 @TuanNguyen1982

If you skim through the previous 10 or 20 pages of this thread you will see that we really struggle with laptops. This guide has been effective for retail desktop motherboards running Coffee Lake CPUs. For laptops, unfortunately, it’s a long struggle with trial and error. Something that can help, though, is to examine or post the IOReg output from IORegistryExplorer. But the success rate for laptops is low.

Hi everyone,

Can someone help me out here:

I have everything working on my new Lenovo M920x that runs Q370 chipset, got an fully working DSDT the only thing im missing is the HDMI port so i can get dual monitors (There are only 2 connectors on the board 1xDP & 1xHDMI) The DP is working perfectly :)

SMBIOS is set to iMac 18,1 since it's an Coffee Lake i5-8500 CPU runs Intel UHD 630

Patched in Hackintool with ig-platform-id to 0x3E9B0007 GPU id: 0x3E9B8086 which is from MacMini8,1 could it be an wrong id maybe??

I tried the guide but i can't get any other ports to light up when connecting HDMI. My main monitor (DP) flickers when connecting the HDMI like it finds the monitor but nothing light up in Hackintool connectors section.

Please help me out here :-/
Please post the following:
  • Config.plist
  • IOReg output. Simply download and run IORegistryExplorer and select File —> Save As...

Gigabyte boards are quite easy to patch. Just follow the guide or try one of the pre-built Gigabyte patches as a starting point.

i am disagree: no so easy, because nobody know well values. Thanks for your help, the guide may be a base, but not good information in system. in you list of configuration, none are for GA-Z70-UD5-TH

Have you tried following the guide or using one of the existing Gigabyte connector settings? HDMI is usually (not always) on Index 3 with BusID 0x05.

What settings have you tried and what results did you get?

please i read the guide, but no help for Z170-UD5-TH
no consideration are taking into account, and specally no information for Z170 in general in your guide.

by the way i have post somes informations sometimes, but no answer on the point, so:
-no answer, no idea
-no answer, no way

sorry

i add that information on connector is :
-empty, and no selectable
-value without use

so there no affort information for my configuration

is serie Z170-UD5-TH supported by hacktool ?

If you are using a translator to convert your native language to English, the result is not clear. It is very difficult to understand. It is better to post screenshots of the settings you tried. Also, because you have a Discrete GPU, it is not necessary to enable the iGPU HDMI port.
