I need help
I tried to carefully follow all the instructions, but just as it seemed that it loaded el capitan it stuck with a zero insight ....
I have a intel core i7 motherboard GA-Z170-Gaming GTX 980Ti

I have a very weird issue, which I haven't this way in any other build.

I successfully installed 10.11.6 on the hardware from the OP, and after setting Clover to boot without my installer USB, everytime, whether with the installer USB or just booting from my SSD, i get the kernal panic screen for a few seconds, then it proceeds to either the install screen or to my desktop, depending on what I'm doing. Everytime I boot and it does this, I get the "your computer crashed" and a report, included below.

What gives?

Also, everytime I shut down it just reboots. I'm sure there's a quick fix for this I missed in skimming through 168 posts, but if anyone is kind enough to enlighten me, I'd appreciate it.

I have the ATX version of this board, albeit its the Fatal1ty Gaming 6. Should be the same procedure more or less i figured but before installing, the apple logo appears, installer bar goes about 60% of the way and then I get a circle with a line through. In verbose mode it sometimes gets stuck at "Missing Bluetooth Controller Transport!". Any ideas how to get past this? Tried GraphicsEnabler=Yes/No -x and -s

As an update, I've re-installed on both a 850 EVO drive and on my 950 Pro, same kernal panic about 90% of the time, on random restarts, there wont be a kernel panic. What can cause these Kernel Panics at this stage, where they panic, then boot? If I boot from Clover in USB to my normal install, no panic.

Also, after adding an Nvidia card (was using 530 graphics) I changed the config file to nvda_drv=1 and now after the initial apple logo splash screen my monitor goes to sleep, though the machine is still on. Change it back to the default and it boots to login screen. I will also say, while I did install the Nvidia web drivers, it does not appear they are active, lots of screen tearing, no transparency on the dock, etc.

Lastly, is there any way to fix the reboot when I shutdown? Automatically reboots every time.

Oh, and are we able to discuss Sierra install on this thread? I tried to install Sierra to hopefully alleviate these issue, but ran into problems, but I won't detail them here if this isn't allowed until release on the 20th.

Can't help with the other stuff, but I found the quickest way to fix my issues around using an nVidia card was to use agdpfix. You need to disable the video card and re-run the patch almost every time you update OSX (and the graphics drivers). The Config2 patch in the guide here just didn't work for me...

Cheers

Did anyone manage to solve the "reboot after wake" issue? Have that with my asrock Z170 gaming K4 as well..

Build:
CPU: i7-6700K
Mainboard: AsRock Fatal1ty ITX/ac
RAM: 2x 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200mhz
SSD: Samsung 850 500GB M.2 SSD
Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S
PSU: Corsair SF 450 80Plus Gold
Case: Rajintek Metis Black

At first I felt adventurous and attempted a Sierra install, got the system installed and booted - but couldn't get sound/networking up and running... eventually went back and followed your guide to the letter with El Capitan and it was pretty smooth from there. Only addition was to manually edit the config for my 16GB ram sticks. HD 530 works flawlessly so far in all my Sketch and Adobe workflows... and it's an altogether super fast and dead quiet little beast, certainly giving my otherwise powerful 15" MBP-Retina some deserved rest after 4 years.

Thanks a million for the very meticulous and straightforward guide. Hope to see an update for Sierra eventually once the kexts are up to speed. :)

Hello Nuxxie and all,
Do you have a link to a safe image of El Capitan that I can download? The app store will not let me download it and I have found several sites that seem to have the file but they look shady....
Thanks!
