Hello! I am pretty new to this forum, and I don't really know where to post this small tip (not really a guide). I found this really helpful since I have a laptop running a Nvidia GPU, which meant that the usual Intel backlight patches by @RehabMan don't work for me. After an hour of digging, I came to the conclusion that there's no widely accepted way to fix backlight controls for Nvidia GPUs.

Then, I stumbled upon ScreenShade, which is a software that overlays something over your screen to darken it without needing you to reduce the backlight. The darkness of the shade can also be changed, which basically acts like a brightness control. The only thing is that your screen backlight cannot be darker than the brightness you want.
