Dell XPS L701X OFFICIAL OS X Lion Tutorial
This tutorial is assuming that you have access to a version of OS X on a MAC.

HERE'S THE TUTORIAL...
You are now ready to install Lion on laptop
So...When booting up your laptop, hit F12 to get to the drive selector screen Make sure no other USB devices are plugged in apart from the flash drive.
Then...
After a few seconds, the LION installation should appear.
The taskbar to the top should then appear
Once completed, restart your laptop.
Upon restarting, hit F2 to go into your BIOS setup.
Change your boot sequence to boot from the secondary hard drive (Lion hard drive) first.
Save changes and exit.
When chimera bootloader appears, you can either hit Enter twice or just let the timer countdown.
If you're successfully booted back into Lion, take a breath. You've reached far
Now on the top left, click the apple logo, and then SOFTWARE UPDATE. UPDATE your hackintosh to 10.7.4
After updating (you should restart laptop), then boot back into Lion once more, and use KextBeast to install the two kexts in the attached zip folder named "Sound". These are the kexts which will enable sound and microphone. Restart once more, and then your hackintosh should be at the stage where mine is

- -16GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM
- -1600 x 900 Native Resolution
- -1TB (2 x 500GB) 7200 RPM
- -2.0 HD Webcam
- -91W/hr Li-ION Battery
- -Windows 7 Ultimate, and MAC OS X Lion (of course )
What Works:-
- -Native Resolution (1600 x 900)
- -Full Graphics Acceleration
- -All USB ports (Yes USB 3.0 as well)
- -Touchpad with 2 finger scrolling
- -Audio
- -Microphone
- -Bluetooth
- -Webcam
- -Ethernet
What Does Not Work:-
- -Wireless (This is due to wireless card being unsupported by OS X, but will be buying dongle)
- -Sleep (Computer remains running, but screen turns off)
REQUIREMENTS!
- 1. An 8GB Flash Drive to install LION from
- 2. Another flash drive to copy over multibeast and other attached files
- 3. Formatted 2nd internal hard drive to install Lion on
- 4. A copy of OS X Lion
- 5. Unibeast
HERE'S THE TUTORIAL...
- 1. Open up disk utility
- 2. Plug in flash drive and select it in the disk utility
- 3. Click on Partition tab and change the current partition to "1 Partition"
- 4. Make sure the format is Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
- 5. Click on options below the newly made partition and select Master Boot Record, then click APPLY and Partition
- 6. Close disk utility
- 7. Open Unibeast
- 8. Click continue until it prompts for the drive to install to; Select flash drive
- 9. Click continue
- 10. Make sure the copy of OS X Lion is in your applications folder
- 11. Check Mac App Store "Install Mac OS X Lion", and Laptop Support
- 12. Click continue and install
You are now ready to install Lion on laptop
So...When booting up your laptop, hit F12 to get to the drive selector screen Make sure no other USB devices are plugged in apart from the flash drive.
Then...
- 1. Select the Removable Devices, and hit ENTER
- 2. The Unibeast bootloader should appear after a few seconds
- 3. Select the Flash Drive and hit ENTER again...
After a few seconds, the LION installation should appear.
- 4. Select your preferred language, and click the ARROW
The taskbar to the top should then appear
- 5. Select Utilities, then Disk Utility
- 6. Select the Hard Drive which was formatted
- 7. Go to partition tab and make 1 partition
- 8. Make sure format is in Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
- 9. Make sure in options, you select GUID Partition Table
- 10. Click apply and partition
- 11. Once completed, exit disk utility and click continue and agree
- 12. Select the newly partitioned hard drive and select INSTALL
- 13. When finished installing, keep flash drive plugged in
- 14. Boot laptop from the flash drive again
- 15. When the Unibeast bootloader appears, do not select the flash drive again, but instead select the Hard Drive which you installed Lion on
- 16. You should now be at the registration screen
- 17. Once registering and such, open multibeast and have ethernet plugged in (This is to be able to download 10.7.4 from the Software Update)
- 18. In multibeast, click continue, select the Lion hard drive, then continue again.You should see the Installation Type (The list of stuff)
- 19. Expand the Drivers and Bootloaders dropdown list
- 20. Expand Kexts and Enablers
- 21. Expand Graphics
- 22. Expand Nvidia 4xx/5xx Support
- 23. Select 10.7.2+ Combo OpenCL Enabler
- 24. Expand Miscellaneous
- 25. Select NullCPUPowerManagement
- 26. Select USB 3.0 - NEC/Renesas and Etron
- 27. Select PS/2 Keyboard/Mice and Trackpads
- 28. Expand Network
- 29. Select Lnx2Mac's RealtekRTL81xx Ethernet v0.0.90
- 30. Expand Bootloaders
- 31. Select Chimera v1.9.2 r1394
- 32. Click Continue and Install
- 33. The installation for the ethernet driver should also appear. Run through the installation like normal (i.e. click continue and select hard drive, and install)
