[Guide] Dell XPS 9530 using Clover UEFI

hi

I am a complete noob and i have followed the guide to the letter to try and install yosemite on my XPS 15 9530. I can get USB flash disk to boot with clover but when i press enter on osx_install it goes into a blank screen. i tried loading it in verbose but it gets stuck on root device uuid. what am i doing wrong would appreciate any help.

1. I managed to unlock the bios and set the settings as said in the pst.

2. I wish there were more clear instructions on creating the clover uefi installation guide. I clicked on the link and tried to follow exactly as mentioned.

a. I used MBR partition for my USB
b. I put HFSPlus.efi in EFI/CLOVER/drivers64UEFI folder
c. I followed link for FakeSMC.kext https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-FakeSMC-kozlek but I couldn't find a Release folder or a zip file containing the .kext I needed so I googled and downloaded from here instead. https://bitbucket.org/RehabMan/os-x-fakesmc-kozlek/downloads
d. Same for VoodooPS2Controller.kext. https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-Voodoo-PS2-Controller and i couldn't find it here either so I googled and downloaded from here. https://bitbucket.org/RehabMan/os-x-voodoo-ps2-controller/downloads
e. The config.plist link in the forum is not working. https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-Clover-Laptop-Config/blob/master/config_HD4600.plist. So I googled it and it took me to this link and i downloaded this file instead. https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-Clover-Laptop-Config/blob/master/config_HD4600_4400_4200.plist. I renamed it to config.plist and edited it using a text editor on mac and then replaced the original in the EFI/CLOVER/ folder.
f. I restored the osx install using the BaseBinaries clone method.

When I try and boot it gives me a blank screen and when I try verbose mode it gets stuck on "root devices uuid is"

Post EFI/Clover folder.

That link for downloading is in the README. Always read. Carefully.

Name changed. the-darkvoid just didn't update the link.

Never use a text editor to edit config.plist... always a plist editor.

Less chance for pilot error with createinstallmedia.

Likely a USB problem.
 
wow thanks so much for instant replies. Wasn't expecting so soon :D. I redid the config.plist with xcode but the issue still persists. I uploaded the EFI/Clover folder on my google drive.

btw i am using patriot 64gb usb3.0 flash disk and using MBP with 10.11 on it to make the USB.

another thing i noticed in this step of making Clover USB

# copy BaseSystem.dmg
cp -a /tmp/install_esd/BaseSystem.dmg /tmp/install_esd/BaseSystem.chunklist /Volumes/install_osx

There is no BaseSystem.dmg or BaseSystem.chunklist in the install_osx drive although I did run that in terminal.

Your drivers64UEFI is missing OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi.

The files are hidden.
 
lifesaver you are. <3. really appreciate your help on this. i got frustrated and deleted the yosemite download from applications and downloaded el capitan instead. put the missing file like you mentioned and remade my usb with el capitan using the createinstallmedia option and installation is loading :D
 
Hi Darkvoid and thank you so much for this - have been following Austin's guide for a few days and wasn't able to get where I am with my build of 10.11.1 - did 10.11 following your guide and was able to get nearly everything up and running perfectly - manage to update to 10.11.1 with a few issues but now updated and back to where I was with my 10.11 install.

I have an issue with my screen resolution - I get only 2k screen ok, but the more space selection defaults to 1600 x 900 ? not sure why this is as iopatch seem to go through just fine with no errors.

I also have swapped out the intel WLAN for the dell DW1560 WLAN but I can't see any bluetooth device, not sure if there's any else missing but usb, Wifi, LAN, camera and QI/QC working great :headbang:.

Your image shows 1600x900 and another selection to the right.

Install supported WiFi/BT: BCM94352Z.
