Hi. I posted this same question at the Catalina thread before seeing this (sorry Mods). I might just go straight to Big Sur instead of the older OS.

My situation is that I have a buddy who is about to upgrade his laptop and will be selling a lightly used Inspiron 7573. The i5 version, particularly the 2-in-1 15-7000- 7573 - 15.6 fhd touch - i5-8250u laptop.

Just what to ask and verify if above method will work with this laptop? What other coding and hardware changes (ie wifi card etc) one needs to do to make it all work as listed above?

It’s not my first rodeo with Hackintoshing (all via Clover on desktops), but it will be my first with Opencore.

Thanks in advance

As continuation of above, it seems like the obvious differences between the i7 and i5 are as follows (aside from CPU + RAM):

Display: 4k vs 1080p
GPU: Nvidia mx130 vs Intel 620
HDD: ssd m.2 vs spinning disk (sata)

Really need to figure out what coding changes i need to make (aside from the hdd and wifi/ bt card changes)

my config works for all models 7573 with minor changes. set secure boot to disabled and hard drive configuration to ahci. as for wifi bluetooth, there are many choices there's a full guide located here https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/broadcom-wifi-bluetooth-guide.242423/

Thanks for the response.

If i’m not mistaken, we can install two ssd’s on either versions right (m.2 + sata; i7 will need a battery change and cable add on)? If that’s the case can we install MacOS on one and Windows on the other for dual booth?
Or i’m mistaken?

As for the display, for the i5 version what driver/ settings do i need to make if any coz your version is the i7 (4k display).

Thanks

yes you will have change battery and cable to install 2 ssd. yes you can dual boot with macOS and windows. you won't need to change anything with my EFI

Awesome! Thanks! If I pursue this route it will be an i5 device. So i might just need to add either an m.2 or replace the platter with a sata ssd instead. Or both.

Thanks again. Will be coming back once (if) I buy the laptop.

@Mrgeque

Oh hey there, didn't realize you created another threat.

I've found another issue on my system

Just tested the SD card reader, doesn't seem to recognize anything. Is there a way to fix that?

The port is detected under system information where it says USB2.0-CRW in the USB section but the laptop doesn't recognize any sd cards inserted.

Also btw, I'm talking about the built-in sd card reader
