It works!. After adding the kexts one at a time, I found that AppleHDA.kext was causing the problem. I re-patched the original kext using AppleHDAPatcher. I also realized I missed a couple DSDT patches mentioned in the original post. Now everything seems to be working... except the touch screen, which oddly was working earlier. But that's not a feature I care about right now.

Thanks RehabMan and krosseyed. I now have what amounts to a cheap MacBook Pro.

Nothing attached.
No details.
No idea.

Ok here is an example of the error I'm getting.

So far 166 errors. is this normal? Seems like a lot.

thanks

List of errors is useless without the file(s) that generate them.

"Problem Reporting" files are incomplete.
Read FAQ, "Problem Reporting" again. Carefully. Attach all requested files/output.
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/faq-read-first-laptop-frequent-questions.164990/

Also, if you have made changes to the ACPI/origin (eg. errors are the result of your patching), you will need to attach the .dsl you're trying to compile.

Very Sorry. Here are the files that the guide says to attach. The .dsl is in CLOVER/ACPI/origin/DSDT.dsl

Your list of errors indicates you're using the wrong version of MaciASL and/or wrong ACPI.
Use ACPI 6.1.
See guide:
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-patching-laptop-dsdt-ssdts.232984/

all i see in your bitbucket link (https://bitbucket.org/RehabMan/acpica/downloads/)
is
"iasl.zip"
and
"iasl51.zip"
which one do I use? I have been using "Iasl"

how do I tell what version of ACPI I am using?

I have been using your version of MacIASl

finally, I have noticed that the AppleHDA.kext I copied over from the provided files still has a red dot next to it in S/L/E. Could this be the reason it may not be compiling?

thanks

The latest is at the top, iasl.zip (ACPI 6.1)
iasl51.zip is an older version (ACPI 5.1)

MaciASL->Preferences->iASL.

It is a red tag. AppleHDA has nothing to do with your DSDT compilation problems.
