Im asking because I remember there was recommendation do not share it for same reason so people had to create their own.
I don't remember why however.
Good to know that mine is good till processor upgrade :)

@tallgeese04 you meed ssdt for OC and yes iMac does not see OC without is using only 3.9 Mac pro use 4.3 for egz without ssdt.
It took me a while to figure this out and its is on and other preview OSX.
Power management and stable work is worth to use iMac with correct ssdt however preview in Premier pro works very bad (simple filter on) with iMac compere to Mac Pro using the same web and cuda drivers.

Thanks for the info!

I switched back to Mac Pro 3.1 SMBIOS for now. Tested few different OC options, got it running on 4.2Ghz. System somehow feels snappier than with iMac 13.2.
Power management does suck with Mac Pro but that's fine for now haha (will figure it out later, I've been reading on that topic with creating own SSDT). To be honest I didn't even know (and didn't bother finding out as everything worked fine on previous OS X installs xD) about proper PM until I read this guide.

Also it seems that P-states work on Mac Pro 3.1 without custom SSDT.

Hi,

Quick question.
I havent been on the forum for a while since my machine was doing great and I had no need to update, still running 10.9.5 (or could afford downtime)
But now im back haha, While reading this i noticed one big thing, since when do we need ssdt's?
If I'm correct there was no need for them when I build this machine, is this due to the change to clover?
Also im running a 3750, im assuming its also needed for this processor?

Thanks in advance,

Jan

Hi,

Until I tried El Capitan install and came across this guide I never used (custom) SSDT myself. If I understand it correctly now, it's about fine tuning / improving power management for your specific CPU, less power usage in idle and lower temps overall.

I mostly paid attention to stuff like fixing audio / USB that I never really wondered about CPU temps / power usage. As long as the CPU was recognized correctly in About Mac and performed well in benchmarks I was happy :D.

You have always had a need for native SSDT's, they are Secondary System Description Tables held in your motherboards BIOS. You really only hear about them, when they are being referred to when customizing certain parameters. As is the case with the SSDT I have shown for native PM.

If you have been living without a processor specific PM SSDT, you can certainly continue that way, as it is NOT required. Best suggestion would be to test and see where your P-States are and check with Intel Power Gadget to verify if your CPU has some semblance of speed step happening.

I have used MacMini 6,2 definition with my 3770K CPU. But you use iMac 13,2

Do you know the difference between the two?

Gonna try your SSDT and iMac 13,2 on my build tonight

There is not a big difference between the two. It is just about matching your hardware to the SMBIOS. The difference is really only GFX card. The MacMini was supplied with IGPU (HD4000) where the iMac came with GTX 675MX. You can look these up on EveryMac

That SSDT is not System Definition dependent, only processor dependent. So you could continue using MacMini 6,2 and try out the SSDT that way.

Short answer is no. I have two USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 working on the front of the case. Like I said in the guide, I have two USB 2.0 ports that are not functioning. One on the front of the case and one at the the rear I/O.
Have you tried RehabMan's USB2 port routing(multiplex) and FakePCIID_XHCIMux. I tested it on GA Z77 DS3H + i7 3770K and fully functional on 10.11.1 (FakePCIID.kext + FakePCIID_XHCIMux.kext in EFI\EFI\CLOVER\Kexts\10.11) ---> No Mieze's Multiplex patch in DSDT
