Okay. I was able to Do this, but it freezes while starting and the Apple is loading.

Maybe IT is because I have installer OSX first and changed dvmt prealloced later?
Would it help to Start in Windows and is this even possible anymore? I have an other hdd where my old Windows is, but I don't know if I can Boot IT?

Is there a solution to Start my OSX??

Edit: I reinstalled Windows and it works. Thank you for this guide

I just wanted to point out something:

When changing the variable the BIOS should be set to UEFI and Security Disabled not Legacy, since Legacy won't see the EFI files and it won't show a bootable device.

Hardware
  • ThinkPad P50
  • Intel i7 6700HQ
  • 32GB RAM
  • NVIDIA M1000M
  • UHD(3840*2160) change it from 1920*1080 by myself
  • BIOS: 1.44 and 1.56
QUESTION:
When I want to change the dmvt through setup_var 0xD9 0x3 or 0x4,but it appears error
GUID does not match expected GUID, taking it neverthless....

error: can't set variable using efi (error: 0x 00000000000008)

Hi!
I boot into the EFI Sheell (uefi mode with secure boot disabled) and I changed the DVMT value to 96MB.
setup_var2 0xD9 0x03

but it seems that nothing changes!

Is the result from the shell ok? I mean the "guid does not match expected guid"
