If nothing happens enter it again. for mine i had to enter the code twice the first time for it to change.

you are about to brick your computer. the variable you entered in the prompt is setup_var 0x299 0x3 yet the correct variable is setup_var 0x229 0x3.
if you proceed like this you will brick it, read the disclaimer again especially on entering the incorrect variable.........

Thank you my bad, but I do it with setup_var 0x229 0x3 now, its shows the same error message.

yes I did. course I saw you have mention enter twice.

Hmmm... not sure whats wrong then as it seems to work ok for me and others... reboot and retry..... then also check in windows what the pre-allocated shows even if it gives you an error at the dos prompt

Had not seen this, does it have a dual graphics?
try the second one setup_var 0x22A 0x3 twice and see what happens. if its dual graphics note that you would need to disable the graphics card

yes it did have dual graphics cards, one is Intel HD5500, other one is Nvidia 820M.
but in the BIOS there are not Disable/Enable function for the VGA.
